This depends on what you mean by Britain. The largest in Great Britain is Loch Lomond. Some people use the term Britain to mean the United Kingdom. The largest lake in the UK is Lough Neagh.
This is confirmed by The Guinness Book of Answers that has:
1) Lough Neagh at 381.7 sq.km.
2) Lower Lough Erne at 105 sq. km.
3) Loch Lomond at 71.2 sq. km.
4) Loch Ness at 56.6 sq. km.
5) Loch Awe at 38.7 sq.km

Think Gnomon's point was the the questioner said 'Britain', but that is an indistinct term. The British Isles includes the Republic of Ireland, the UK (in full the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) obv includes N.I. whilst Great Britain obviously doesn't. So the answer depends on the exact phrasing of the question which Wett has.
