1 According to the Magi, Brian was born under which sign of the Zodiac?
Answer: Capricorn

Mom: "Capricorn, eh; what are they like?"
Magi: "He is the son of God, our Messiah, King of the Jews."
Mom: "That's Capricorn, is it?"
Magi: "Oh, no, no, no, that's just him."
Mom: "Oh, I was going to say, otherwise there'd be a lot of 'em."
I don't know which is funnier; the fact that mom has no idea why her brat is the object of praise, or that these so-called "wise men" don't know they've stumbled into the wrong stable.
trivia question Quick Question
As told by the ex-leper, what was Jesus' response when the begger complained that he'd been robbed of his livelihood?

2 In the first scene we see three wise men, self proclaimed 'astrologers from the east'. Brian's mother Mandy doesn't think much of them, however. She labels them 'not very wise' because they have been...?
Answer: Creeping around a cow shed at two o'clock in the morning

The exact line, 'Well, what are you doing creeping around a cow shed at two o'clock in the morning? That doesn't sound very wise to me.' Mandy is a strange one, but she (played by Terry Jones) occasionally rifles off a bit of wit...essentially she is the same character as the old women who accompanies Dennis, the revolutionary peasant, from the 'Holy Grail'.
3 When baby Brian is crying at the beginning of the movie, what does his mother do to him?
Answer: Slaps him

This is seen when the wise men leave. She slaps him and mutters, "Shut up!"
Question Reference: Quiz: Life of Brian.
4 What is Brian's surname?
Answer: Cohen

Only mentioned once in the movie. Interestingly enough, surnames weren't generally used for another 1200 years.

5 In the first scene when Brian's mother is told that myrrh is a balm, what does she first think a balm is?
Answer: a dangerous animal.

This film is considered by many to be the best single thing that the "Monty Python" group made. The group was made up of John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.
6 "Where are you two from, ___ city?!"
Answer: nose

While listening to Jesus, Eric Idle lashes out on someone for having a big nose, when eventually Brian buts in "Oh, lay off him", only to get the reply, "Well, you can talk conch face!" The above quote follows.
7 What time of day does the film (after the opening credits) occur at?
Answer: about teatime

I think that this scene is from another film with the "Monty Python" team working over the top. If anybody knows what film it is please tell me and I can put it in this quiz as some "Interesting Information". Thanks.
8 What is the name of Brian's mother?
Answer: Mandy

Another pepper pot by Terry Jones.
9 At what time does the beginning of the movie take place?
Answer: 2:00 a.m.

"What are you doing creeping around a cow shed at 2:00 in the morning? That doesn't sound very wise to me!" Brian's mother says this to the wise men.

10 Where does Brian's mother suggest they throw the Myrrh?
Answer: In the trough

Somehow she thinks it's a dangerous animal which might bite the baby! Perhaps she dreamed it.

11 In the first scene after the titles, what year comes up on screen?
Answer: 33 A.D

The year Jesus is believed to have died. The group did stir up some controversy with the story being so close to the story of Jesus.
12 What stones do Brian and his mother buy for the stoning?
Answer: Two pointy ones, two flat ones and a packet of gravel

You would think that you could just pick them up off the ground, but no. "Feel that, that's craftsmanship, sir."
13 "Are there any ___ here today?"
Answer: women

John Cleese is conducting the stoning, at which women are not allowed to be present.
14 Jesus's supposed belief that "Blessed are the Cheesemakers" is, believed by one man, not meant to be taken literally. What does the man say it really refers to?
Answer: any manufacturer of dairy products

My favourite line in the whole film! "Obviously it's not meant to be taken literally, it refers to any manufacturer of dairy products."
(This is said at the beginning of the film after the opening credits by the rich man.)
15 How long was the 'ex-leper' behind the veil?
Answer: 16 years

"Then he healed me. Without so much as a 'By your leave.'"
16 While it might be expedient to blame the Romans for the present condition of the Jewish people, Reg pontificates that another group are the real problem. On whom does the PFJ's self-appointed leader lay the blame?
Answer: The Meek

Reg and the PFJ are clearly not impressed with Jesus' 'Sermon on the Mount'. In agreeing with Francis' statement "...blessed be just about everybody with a vested interest in the status quo." Reg lays the blame directly where he thinks it belongs: "What Jesus blatantly fails to appreciate is; it's the meek who are the problem."
17 Why does Stan want to be called Loretta?
Answer: He wants to have babies

Reg didn't approve of the fact that Stan wanted to have babies, mainly because it wasn't possible.
Question Reference: Quiz: Life of Brian.
18 What group does Brian first think The People's Front of Judea is?
Answer: The Judean People's Front.

Graham Chapman (Brian) was sadly the first "Monty Python" member to die after he passed away in 1989. He will be remembered for his fantastic acting and writing as well as his openness to being an alcoholic and his homosexuality.
19 Why aren't women allowed to go to stonings? "Because it's........that's why."
Answer: written

It seems that most people couldn't care less as all the "stoners" (!) are women wearing beards.
20 "...wolf ___ chips, get'em while they're hot - they're lovely!"
Answer: nipple

Imperialist tit-bits - Cleese stars again in a background commentary at the stadium, in which they are arguing about Stan's right to have babies.
21 When a woman is asked if she will buy a stone she says she hasn't "got time to go to no stonin'" her excuse is that "he's not well again.". Who is this unwell person?
Answer: her donkey

This donkey looks apallingly unrealistic, especially when viewed on a DVD, but that just adds to the humour in my opinion. (This is said just before Brian and his Mother meet the stone seller, before the stoning scene.)
22 What fish did the 'Blasphemer' say was good enough for Jehovah himself?
Answer: Halibut

'He said it again.'
23 Matthias is the wretched soul sentenced to death by stoning, for the unforgivable sin of blasphemy. Can you name the condemned man's father?
Answer: Deuteronomy

As the charges are read, the blasphemer is clearly identified as "Matthias, son of Deuteronomy of Gath." Deuteronomy, meaning 'second law' is the fifth book of the Old Testament. Gath was an ancient Philistine city-state, destroyed in 800-900 BC. An unlikely combination for a name, but it sounds both serious and silly enough to work in this film's context.
24 Following the credits, the audience is treated to excerpts from Jesus' 'Sermon on the Mount'. About what time of day does this speech take place, according to the caption?
Answer: Tea time

While the faithful listen intently to Jesus' speech, those who are less fortunately positioned have a difficult time hearing his famed sermon. This includes Mandy, who shouts irreverently, 'Speak up!' Brian's mum seems rather unenthusiastic about the sermon, and asks her son to accompany her to the local stoning.
25 How much does Brian hate the Romans?
Answer: A lot

He says this when he wants to become a member of the People's Front of Judea.
