John Cleese plays many different characters in the film. He says he originally thought that he would play Brian in the film but was pleased how everything turned out. He was also famous for his performance and writing in "Fawlty Towers". He also appeared in the first two "Harry Potter" films as Nearly Headless Nick.

Like Brian's mother, they can't hear what Jesus is saying, mistaking the word peacemaker for cheesemaker and meek for Greek. In the end, Mr. Big Nose punches another woman in the face and, sadly, Jesus' message is lost to this section of the crowd.

We all know what happened after he'd "had his way" with her; "...off, like a rat out of an aqueduct." The anachronistic reference to the "known world" is a line that just cracks me up every time I hear it; brilliant comedy writing!

Matthias, son of Deuteronomy of Gath, to be more specific. Poor Matthias has committed the ultimate sin of saying 'Jehovah'. His precise quote, at dinner with his wife: 'That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah.' A hanging offense, to be sure!

Brian asks his mother this. His mother responds, "It's written, that's why!" This is before they buy the rocks for the stoning, when his mother put the beard on to disguise herself. The people of Judea didn't take much notice of this, as all the people at the stoning were women wearing beards.

Terry Gilliam was the only non-British member of the group. He was an American who provided the animation for the movies and T.V shows.
