"The Fog" stars Jamie Lee Curtis. She made it when she was a scream queen before hitting the mainstream movies for which she is better known today. It is a typical lower-budget horror film, about a town celebrating its 100-year anniversary. Little do the townspeople know that their founding fathers murdered a man trying to establish a leper colony, and now the spirits of the lepers are coming back out of the fog to reclaim their town. The tagline evokes the fear of the citizens who are trying to figure out what it is that is threatening their existence in that blasted fog!

"The Karate Kid" was released on June 11, 2010. This remake of a classic starts Jaden Smith (Will Smith's son) and Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan originally wanted the movie to be known as "The Kung Fu Kid", because the movie actually centers around Kung Fu, and NOT Karate. The movie is often also called "The New Karate Kid".

"The Main Event" starred Ryan O'Neal as the boxer "Kid Natural" Scanlong and Barbra Streisand as Hillary Kramer, who held his contract. The 'glove' reference was to the boxing mitts O'Neal reluctantly strapped on (he didn't like to get punched), and, yes, the movie WAS a love story. It was quite popular, though the critics disliked it. Roger Ebert said "...the movie just doesn't have the life, the zaniness, this kind of screwball material demands."

"Mallrats" was director Kevin Smith's second movie, and was his most critically reviled (until "Jersey Girl", anyway). The film starred Jeremy London and Jason Lee (in his first acting performance--he'd later achieve fame as Earl on television's "My Name is Earl") as a couple of slackers trying to get their girlfriends back while hanging around the local mall (and not shopping or working). Ben Affleck also appeared in this movie (and most of Smith's films), and Stan Lee made a cameo.

It was a huge blockbuster, winning awards and ending up being the second-highest-grossing movie of the year (behind "Kramer Vs. Kramer"). As of 2009, five sequels had been released.

The tagline referred to the fact that sound cannot travel through a vacuum. When "Alien 3" was still in the preliminary stages, a proposed tagline for that movie was "On Earth, Everyone Can Hear You Scream", but after several script changes it would have made no sense at all.
