When Neal gets on the elevator, he remembers that he left his gloves in the Brian's office. He asks his coworker, John, to pick them up for him and then says he will drive by and pick them up tomorrow.

Neal is on a train heading for home when he puts the pieces together and realizes Del does not have a family to go home to. Neal returns to the train station for Del and the two of them go to Neal's house for Thanksgiving dinner with the Page family.

Now that's trivial. It can be seen best after Neil and Del have their accident on I-55.

After catching his train to go home, Neal reflects on their trip and realizes that Del really hasn't been home in years. This is when he doubles back to the station.

He gets left in the parking lot, at slot V-5, which is empty.

If you look over Ben's left shoulder the announcement board states: Destination--Nowhere.

When they finally reach Chicago, Neal starts to figure out that things don't add up as he rides the train home. He returns to the train station to find Del is still there. Del confesses that he doesn't have a home and his wife has been dead for eight years. This leads to a touching ending when Neal takes Del home with him for Thanksgiving.

And the truckers didn't even stop after that close call. However, Neil and Del's fingers were stuck right into the dashboard of the car, which soon after catches fire.

So in spite of everything, Neal brings Del home for a family Thanksgiving, complete with Del's omnipresent samples trunk. Del was going to just stay "a minute and say hi".

Neal wanted to hire a cab to take him to Chicago and the taxi stand guy asks, "Do you know you're in St. Louis?"

Dooby has a Red Pontiac Bonneville and takes the scenic route because, "All ya' see on the interstate, is interstate!"

These are all actual names of motels and hotels on the famous Route 66. The Coral Court, now demolished, was near St. Louis; the Boots, which just closed its doors, was in Carthage, Missouri; the Palomino is in Tucumcari, NM; and the El Rancho is actually a famous hotel in Gallup, NM.

Answer: Neal's daughter

Her name was Marti and as you may recall, she was thankful that her "daddy was coming home for Thanksgiving".

Answer: adjusts the seat

Neal learned his lesson on the plane and tells Del, "Leave your shoes on!"

Del get's them a deal because he sold Gus, the manager, his shower curtain rings.

Neil eventually lets Del sleep in his room (#6), where they manage to get completely snookered on miniature bottles of alcohol.

I don't believe we actually hear her name in the movie, so I got it from the credits. Susan was portrayed by the lovely Laila Robins.

He tells Del "Don't let me forget it." which of course they do, leading to a new set of problems.

And Del asked Neal, "Wanna take a shower?"

Funny thing, the truck enters Chicago from the north, but our boys have been traveling from the southwest.

Del plays the air sax and the piano and drums on the dashboard while navigating the interstate.

Of course, Neil figures out that Del really has nowhere to go, so he goes back and invites him to his house for Thanksgiving. A touching ending to a terrific film.
