Answer: Ellie

Ellie and Carl met in an abandoned house where Ellie was using her imagination that the house was a ship and she was going on an adventure. Carl was partaking in his own bout of imagination play when he heard her in the house. They later married, moved into the house where they first met, and lived there together until Ellie died.

Carl creeps in with his balloon and checks out what is going on. Ellie acts as if she is in an actual airplane. While doing this she makes all these realistic voice overs and says that she sees something and that is what she says that she sees. Beforehand she says, "I'm going to bring it back for science!"

Everytime he and Mr. Frederickson are found, that's what they call him. This is mostly because of his tiny stature and because he's dressed like a mailman, even though he's basically a boy scout.

Carl starts off the movie as a young child who breaks his arm trying to retrieve his lost balloon. Later, Carl becomes a balloon salesman and has all the equipment necessary to fill the balloons he needs to make his house take flight.

Carl and Ellie meet as children, after Carl has seen a Charles Muntz movie. Charles Muntz is a famous explorer. Carl enters an abandoned house and finds Ellie talking to herself, pretending to be an explorer too. They find out they both idolize Charles Muntz, and later in time they get married. There is a scene where Carl is with Ellie and they are crying because they can't have a baby.

Paradise Falls was adventurer Muntz's adventuring grounds. It was a place filled with fossils of a large variety of creatures that he donated to museums. He fell from his high pedestal when experts claimed that one set of fossils was faked. He left, vowing to bring back a live creature to prove it existed. Ellie, the Muntz fan, naturally wanted to go to the land of her hero. She created a scrapbook for her adventures which she shared with Carl. Carl promised to take Ellie to Paradise Falls someday. On a side note, Paradise Falls is apparently located in South America.

Carl got rid of the leaflet because he didn't want to go to a retirement village. Only when he struck a construction worker with his cane was Carl told to go to Shady Oaks Retirement Village by the court. On the day he was to be picked up, Carl let loose thousands of balloons which picked his house up from the foundation and lifted it into the sky.

Carl and Russell start to walk when they first get to South America (Paradise Falls). And Carl, sterotyping Russell as a crazy kid, says this to prevent him from doing things that Carl thinks he might do. Like all elderly people, Carl assumes that Russell is an uncivilized youth and that he will be an annoying bother. Right after that, Carl looks back at the house and says, "Don't worry, Ellie. We'll get there."

Answer: Kevin

The bird is the main reason why Muntz is there. When Russell first presents the bird to Carl, he thinks that he has found the 'snipe' that Carl wants from his house, that is supposedly bothering his flowers. Russell then presumes to constantly say "Kevin" and Carl asks who that is. Russell replies that that's what he's named the bird.

Answer: Assisting the Elderly

Russell lands on Carl's doorstep eager to help him do almost anything in hopes of getting his only missing badge for Assisting the Elderly. Carl sends Russell off on a wild goose chase only to later realize that Russell was hiding under his porch when his house took flight.

A truck that is backing up hits Carl's mailbox. The construction worker grabs the mailbox and tries to put it back on, but Carl comes out and struggles to grab it away from the construction worker. Carl consistently says, "No, don't touch it", but the construction worker keeps insisting on helping. Then Carl hits the construction worker on the head with his cane, causing him to bleed and lose consciousness.

Russell was a Korean American boy who was with Wilderness Explorers, Tribe Fifty-Four, Sweat Lodge Twelve. Russell needed his 'assisting the elderly' badge and went to Carl to ask if he needed any help. Carl sent him off to look for a snipe. Russell was at Carl's when Carl lifted the house from its foundation.

When Alpha talks for the first time, he has a squeaky mouse voice that is very uncommon for the leader of the pack. He goes to his leader, Muntz, during the movie and gets it fixed.

Answer: He is accused of lying about his discovery.

It is a painful loss but Muntz loses his membership and now that is why he is looking for the mysterious bird. Muntz is accused of fabricating the bones so that the scientists will think that it was real. Russell names it Kevin and tries to take it with him as a pet. But Muntz wants it, so that he can take it back to the States as proof that he discovered a new species. As you can see in the movie, he is willing to kill to have that it in his possession.

Answer: Spirit of Adventure

The Spirit of Adventure is first seen in a black and white movie Carl is watching as a child. Later, the plane which was adapted for Muntz's many dogs is seen again in Paradise Falls. The movie has an excellent battle scene between the Spirit of Adventure and Carl's flying house.

Answer: He wanted to earn a badge as a wilderness explorer.

Russell's great ambition was to become a senior wilderness explorer, and he only needed one more badge: assisting the elderly. Carl was not amused but instead sent Russell on a snipe hunt. A snipe hunt is another term for a wild goose chase, but Russell did not know this. Russell later confided that his real reason to become a senior wilderness explorer is so that his now absent father would come to the ceremony. The older Carl was voiced by Ed Asner.

Ellie and Carl saved their change to go to Paradise Falls in South America. Over time, life got in the way and they had to use their money for other things. Ellie died before Carl could show her the tickets he purchased for them to go to Venezuela.

Paradise Falls was based on Angel Falls in Venezuela.

He meets her at the beginning of the movie and they end up marrying. They actually have totally opposite personalities. Carl is more of the quieter type, while Ellie is energetic and outgoing. You can see that in their families, when their wedding takes place.

Ellie and Carl spend their whole lives together in this film, and even after Ellie dies she lives on through a picture on Carl's living room wall. Carl does everything for Ellie, including trying to get their house to Paradise Falls, a dream they both had since childhood.

Russell, a chubby kid, knocks on Carl's door and asks him if he needs assistance with his yard or porch, or with crossing the street. Carl repeatedly says no, then feels sorry for the kid and makes up a task to assist him with.

Carl stubbornly held onto the Frederickson dream house despite hungry developers aching for his land. With construction going on all around him, one worker accidentally damaged his beloved mailbox. Angry Carl hit the man with his cane which led to the developers insisting on putting him in a home. Carl tricked the retirement home workers by making his house airborne with the help of a multitude of helium balloons. During his working days, he had sold balloons and other trinkets at the zoo. John Ratzenberger, who has been called Pixar's good luck charm, voiced one of the construction workers.

Russell found Kevin while out using the bathroom. Russell got Kevin to follow him by dropping bits of chocolate from a candy bar. Kevin was the bird Charles Muntz was looking for. Russell and Carl tried keep Kevin safe from Muntz.

Answer: Makes the dogs speak in a different language

When they find Dug, Russell begins to examine him and messes with the switch. While messing with the switch, little by little you hear all of the different accents and languages telling him to stop messing with it. Dug speaks in around 10 different dialects!

They paint that on there when they finish building the house. Ellie and Carl's handprints are there too. It was actually a mistake but Ellie went with it and placed her print where it touched Carl's.

Although Russell has all but one of his Wilderness Explorer badges, he's never been camping in the wilderness at the beginning of the movie! At the end of the movie, Russell earns his badge and Carl shows up to support him, filling in for his absentee father.
