41 One of the most vivid accounts of Jesus' teaching on hell is recorded in Mark's gospel. How does Jesus describe the fate of someone thrown into hell?
Answer: their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched

"And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where
'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'" (Mark 9:42-48)

42 When Jesus stated in Mark 5:39 that the child was simply sleeping, what response did he receive?
Answer: Laughter

The correct answer is laughter. There are mixed views on this one as to why the people laughed at him. Notes in the NIV Study Bible state that it was customary for families to hire "professional mourners" to let the rest of people know how deep their grief was. And if these were professional mourners, or actors, one can understand how easy it would be for them to exhibit such diverse emotions as wailing and laughter at the drop of a hat. However, the NIV Study Bible notes also state that not enough time may have elapsed for professional mourners to be secured. Perhaps, the professional mourners were on standby since it was known the girl was about to die, and they were thus able to get "into the act" before Jesus arrived. It's also possible that Jesus' arrival at the house of Jairus was delayed by a few hours, but Mark does not mention this specifically.

43 According to Mark 5: 9, why was the demon-possessed man called Legion?
Answer: Because he had many demons inside him.

The correct answer is "because he had many demons inside him." Scripture tells of Jesus speaking to the demon inside the man when he asked his name. Verses 8 and 9 state: "For Jesus had said to him, 'Come out of this man, you evil spirit!' Then Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' 'My name is Legion,' he replied, 'for we are many'." It's interesting to note the word legion is a military term for the Roman army with as many as 6,000 troops and 200 cavalry troops comprising a legion.

45 According to Mark 10:27 (KJV), what is possible with God?
Answer: all things

It says in Mark 10:27, "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible."

Many people misunderstand this verse and other verses like it, thinking it says we can do whatever we want. Actually, what most Christians believe this verse to mean is that if it's God's will, we can do anything because He will give us what we need to succeed.

48 Simon and Andrew were fisherman. According to Mark, what were they doing when Jesus first came by?
Answer: They were casting a net into the sea

They would've done all of these things at various times. I've always wondered what sort of man Jesus was to have caught the attention of two sun-burned, tough and hard-working men. They literally dropped everything and followed him.

50 Pharisees practiced ceremonial washing to keep themselves from becoming spiritually unclean. When they chided Jesus and his disciples for not practicing these washings, from where did Jesus tell them unclean thoughts and desires came?
Answer: Within men's hearts

"He (Jesus) went on: 'What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.''" (Mark 7:20-22)

The Pharisees were meticulous about ceremonial righteousness. Jesus called them hypocrites for neglecting the Word of God in favor of ceremony.
