The Collingwood Football Club was founded in 1892.

They won their first Premiership in 1902, defeating Essendon by 33 points.

Collingwood were at their most successful in the late 1920's. In 1927 Syd Coventry won the club's first Brownlow Medal. The Pies went through the entire 1929 AFL season without losing a single game and in 1930 they won their fourth consecutive Premiership.

The team's mascot, Jock 'One Eye' McPie, is named after legendary Collingwood coach, James "Jock" McHale. Their team colours are black and white.

The Carlton Football Club was founded in 1864.

Their first Premiership came in 1906 and Bert Deacon won the club's first Brownlow Medal in 1947.

121,696 people attended the 1970 Grand Final when Carlton played their arch rivals, Collingwood. Despite being 44 points down at half-time, Carlton staged an amazing come-back, kicking seven goals in fifteen minutes to win the game by ten points.

The team's mascot is Captain Carlton and their team colour is navy blue.

The Essendon Football Club was founded in 1872.

In 1897 they defeated Geelong to claim their first Premiership and in 1934 Dick Reynolds won the club's first Brownlow Medal.

The team's mascot, Moz 'Skeeta' Reynolds, is named after Essendon legend, Dick Reynolds. Their team colours are red and black.

"We are the pride of Brisbane town, we wear maroon, blue and gold" are the opening lines of the Brisbane Lions theme song. The Brisbane Lions is a malgamation of the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears. The two teams merged in 1996 when Fitzroy were going bankrupt.

The West Coast Eagles Football Club was founded in 1986.

In 1992 they won their first Premiership, defeating Geelong by 28 points. They went on to defeat the Cats again in the 1994 Grand Final, this time winning by 80 points. In 2004 Chris Judd won the club's first Brownlow Medal.

The team's mascot, Rick 'The Rock' Eagle, is named after the Daddy Cool hit song "Eagle Rock". Their team colours are blue and gold.

The jumpers were worn for Geelong's away games in 1998. The fans did not like them at all because they were nothing like the traditional jumper. Petitions were taken outside "Shell Stadium" (Geelong's home ground) to have the jumper disguarded. In 1999, a new away jumper was designed which was more faithful to the traditional jumper.

The Fremantle Football Club was founded in 1994 and joined the AFL in 1995. So far they haven't won any Premierships or Brownlow Medals.

One of Freo's most memorable victories came in round sixteen, 1999, when, for the first time, they defeated their cross-town rivals, West Coast.

Collingwood's President Eddie MacGuire tried to cover this up by stating that Collingwood were the first club to present an alternate uniform, but this was after much debating. It just happened that other clubs took more time to create an alternate jumper. In some cases, clubs came up with three or four designs and let their fans choose in a voting system.
