Russell Crowe is an actor who was born in the New Zealand city of Wellington in 1964. Crowe spent a portion of his childhood living in Australia. He left school at age 16 to pursue performing and released a number of singles in New Zealand using the stage name Russ Le Roq.
At 21 Crowe moved to Australia to pursue more acting opportunities where he had a number of stage and TV roles before breaking into films. In 2001 Crowe won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in the movie Gladiator.
2. Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi is a filmmaker and actor from New Zealand. Born Taika David Cohen in Wellington in 1975, he uses his father's surname Waititi professionally. Waititi describes himself as a Polynesian Jew as his father is from Maori descent and his mother of Russian Jewish and other European ethnicities. Waititi has worked on many major movies including 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Thor: Love and Thunder' which he directed along with playing the character Korg.
3. Lorde

Lorde was born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor in the New Zealand city of Auckland in 1996, and is a dual citizen of New Zealand and Croatia, qualifying for Croatian citizenship through her mother's family. She has said she chose the stage name 'Lorde' as she was interested in aristocracy and royalty, but, rather than be known as 'Lord', she added the e to make the name look more feminine. Lorde released her debut album, 'Pure Heroine' in 2013, and the songs on the album were written by Lorde in collaboration with the New Zealand record producer and songwriter Joel Little.

Despite being a dual citizen of Australia and the United States Keith Urban was born in the city of Whangārei in the north of New Zealand in 1967. Urban and his family then moved to Australia when he was two years old. Known primarily as a singer/songwriter in the country music genre he has won the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Music Vocal Performance in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011. Urban married the actress Nicole Kidman in 2006.
5. Lucy Lawless

Lucy Lawless is an actress best known for playing the title character in the TV show 'Xena: Warrior Princess'. Lawless was born in the Mount Albert suburb of Auckland in 1968. She married her first husband, Garth Lawless, in 1988 with whom she has a daughter; the couple divorced in 1995.
In 1998 Lawless married Robert Tapert, who had been an executive producer on 'Xena: Warrior Princess', and together the couple have two sons. As well as starring in 'Xena' Lawless has also had roles in a number of other TV shows, including the 2004 'Battlestar Galactica' TV series and the sitcom 'Parks and Recreation'.

Sia is an Australian singer and songwriter from the city of Adelaide, where she was born in 1975. She started her music career with an acid jazz band called Crisp in the 1990s before releasing her first solo album, 'OnlySee', in Australia in 1997. She then moved to London, releasing two more albums before moving to the US in 2005.
As well as releasing music, Sia directed and co-wrote the 2021 movie 'Music', on release the movie was widely criticised especially for its portrayal of autism.
7. Michael Hutchence

Michael Hutchence was born in Sydney, Australia in 1960. Hutchence was the front man and one of the founder members of the Australian band INXS, whose 1987 song 'Need You Tonight' reached number 2 in the UK charts and number 1 in the US. From the early 1990s until his death in 1997 Hutchence was in a relationship with the British TV presenter Paula Yates, with whom he has a daughter called Tiger Lily. Hutchence died on 22nd November 1997 after committing suicide in a hotel room in Sydney.
8. Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie was born in the town of Dalby in rural Queensland in 1990. She began her acting career in the Australian soap opera 'Neighbours' before leaving in 2011. Robbie had her movie breakthrough with the role of Naomi Lapaglia in the 2013 film 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.
She has gone on to star in many movies including the title roles in 2017s 'I, Tonya' and the 2023 movie 'Barbie'. In 2016 Robbie married British film director Tom Ackerley who she had met in 2013 while working on the movie 'Suite Francaise'.
9. Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger was born in the Australian city of Perth in 1979. He left school at 16 and had a number of roles in TV shows and movies in Australia before getting his Hollywood break starring in the teen movie '10 Things I Hate About You'. Ledger went on to have roles in a number of major movies, including the 2005 film 'Brokeback Mountain', for which he was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar. Ledger played the role of the Joker in the 2008 Batman movie 'The Dark Knight'.
The movie was released after Ledger had died from an accidental prescription medicine overdose. Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor for his role as Joker, becoming the second actor to win a posthumous acting Oscar after Peter Finch who won Best Actor in 1977.
10. Elle Macpherson

Elle MacPherson was born in Kilara, a suburb of Sydney, in 1964. She is known as a model, actress, and TV personality. She started modelling in the 1980s, and appeared in many global magazines and was the cover model for 'Sports Illustrated's' 'swimsuit issue' in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1994 and 2006.
In 1989 'Time' magazine nicknamed her "The Body", a moniker which stuck. Alongside modelling, MacPherson has had a number of acting roles, including a recurring role in the sitcom 'Friends', as well as hosting the TV show 'Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model' from 2010-2013.
