1. Tiger Woods
Eldrick "Tiger" Woods was born in Cypress, California on December 30, 1975. The nickname Tiger was given to him in honor of one of his father's best friends. Woods started playing golf at the age of two and was quickly recognized as a natural. His first public appearance was at the age of three when he was played in a putting competition with Bob Hope. Tiger turned pro at the age of twenty, and within six months he had the highest endorsement deals in golf, rose to number one in the standings, and won the Masters Championship by 12 strokes.
2. Tim Allen
Timothy Alan Dick was born in Denver, Colorado on June 13, 1953. When Tim was 11 years old his father was killed by a drunk driver, and his mother soon moved the family to Birmingham, Michigan to marry her high school sweetheart. Allen was interested in theater, majoring in radio and television production. His first attempt at stand-up comedy happened by taking a dare from a friend. Tim's first breakout role was as Tim "The Tool-Man" Taylor on the TV show "Home Improvement".
3. Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey was born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas on November 4, 1969. He went to the University of Texas where he earned his bachelor of science in Radio-Television-Film. While still in school, a bartender pointed out that the director Don Phillips was also in the bar. Matthew walked up, introduced himself, and asked to be in one of his films. Phillips cast Matthew as Woodson in the film "Dazed and Confused" which was originally only going to be a small role.
However, one of the other characters wasn't working out well, and Matthew's role was gaining popularity, so lines were added in to give Woodson a bigger presence. Matthew's first lead role was in the film "A Time to Kill".
4. Oprah Winfrey
Orpah Gail Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi on January 29, 1954. Her mother was a single teenager and gave her the name Orpah from the book of Ruth in the Bible. Due to people constantly pronouncing her name as "Oprah", she started using it instead.
When she was a baby her mother moved to Milwaukee to live with Oprah's grandmother. Despite being in severe poverty, Oprah was quick to learn to read. For high school, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to live with her father. She quickly got a job with the local radio station and by the age of 19 was anchoring the nightly news. Oprah's first breakout role was as Sofia Johnson in the film "The Color Purple".
She is most famously known for her daytime talk show.
5. Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande was born in Boca Raton, Florida on June 26, 1993. While Ariana's first love was music, her first success was in the theater. Her first breakout role was in the Broadway musical "13" where she played the part of Charlotte while earning the National Youth Theatre Association Award.
At the age of 16, she found herself playing the role of Cat Valentine in the live-recorded Nickelodeon show "Victorious". The musical soundtrack for the show gave Ariana a chance to show off her singing skills.
Her first major musical success was her song "The Way" from her debut album, "Yours Truly". Ariana is famous for her wide vocal range and in particular, her ability to use whistle notes at the top of the human vocal range.
6. Lil Nas X
Lil Nax X, also known as Montero Lamar Hill, was born in Lithia Springs, Georgia on April 9, 1999. Struggling socially, as many teens do, Hill turned to the internet to find his place. He developed a love for making memes and built a following on social media as a comedian. Hill bought the beat for his breakout song "Old Town Road" for $30 and spent another $20 to record the song at a local studio in less than an hour. By this point, he had a small following on TikTok and entered his song into a contest called the "#Yeehaw Challenge Meme". Hill then proceeded to make over 100 memes for the song and it soon went massively viral. "Old Town Road" spent 19 weeks as the number-one song atop the US Billboard 100 list breaking all records to that point.
7. Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence was born in Indian Hills, Kentucky on August 15, 1990. With two older brothers, Jennifer grew up to be a tough kid. She had trouble making friends and had social anxiety, however acting on the stage gave her a sense of freedom. While she was on vacation, a talent agent discovered her in New York City.
She actually dropped out of school at the age of 14 to pursue a career in acting. Her first major acting role was as the character Lauren Pearson on the sitcom "The Bill Engvall Show". One of her largest roles has been as Katniss Everdeen in the film series "The Hunger Games".
8. Danica Patrick
Danica Patrick was born in Beloit, Wisconsin on March 25, 1982. As a little girl, she did not consider racing as her future, but at the age of ten her parents bought her a go-kart. Danica quickly became skilled at karting and won several peer-level tournaments.
At the age of sixteen, she was invited to move to the United Kingdom to race in Formula Vauxhall and Formula Ford. She moved back to the US and started her rookie season with the First Indy Car Series where she won three pole positions tying a record at the time.
While Danica never finished in the top five in a NASCAR race, she did become the first woman to win the pole position at the 2013 Daytona 500.
9. LeBron James
LeBron James was born in Akron, Ohio on December 30, 1984. His mother was 16 at the time of his birth and his father was not involved in his life. At the age of nine, his mother allowed him to move in with a local football coach for a more stable life than she could provide. James was introduced to basketball and soon found success with the sport. By his freshman year in high school, James helped his team win a state championship. Each year in high school he continued to improve, and by the end of his sophomore year, he was gaining national attention. James was selected number one in the NBA draft straight out of high school.
He has won multiple championships with the league and is one of the greatest point leaders in NBA history drawing comparisons to the legendary Michael Jordan.
10. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989. Her parents named her after singer James Taylor. Inspired by Shania Twain, she was taught how to play guitar by a local computer salesman who moonlighted as a musician. At the age of fourteen, she moved to Nashville to try and fulfill her dream to become a country star. Three years later, Taylor released her self-titled debut album which became the first female country debut to go platinum where the artist has a writing credit for every song. Taylor Swift has shifted her music more to pop and has gone on to become one of the most successful musical artists in history.
