Delta Gamma was founded in 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi at the Lewis School for Girls. Their philanthropy is aid to the blind. Julia Louis-Dreyfus came to fame in "Seinfeld", Joan Lunden as an anchor on "Good Morning America", and Donna Mills for "Knots Landing". Katherine Anne Porter is an American writer who did have have a formal higher education and was not part of a Greek organization.

Terry Bradshaw, American footballer and broadcaster, was actually a Tau Kappa Epsilon. Sigma Chi was founded by seven men at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, on June 28, 1855. Sigma Chi spun off from Delta Kappa Epsilon when there was a disagreement of who would be selected as the chapter's designated Poet.

Kappa Alpha Theta is a sorority, and Delta Upsilon and Alpha Chi Alpha are fraternities founded in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, respectively.
