Arnold Schwarzenegger was the eponymous star of the 1984 movie, which was directed by James Cameron. The iconic "I'll be back" came from the movie.
Bethesda Softworks was the first company to publish the video game. In their game, the player can control either the Terminator or Kyle Reese (the human tasked with protecting the heroine, Sarah Connor). Sega and Nintendo both released versions of the game in 1992.

The video game was released in 1988. It is a racing game, based on the movie's speedboat race through the Louisiana bayous.

One of my favourite movies! The Monty Python team's totally ludicrous satire of the Arthurian legend hit the big screen in 1975. Who can forget discussions on coconut-carrying swallows, the limbless but brave Black Night, chopping trees down with fish and several of the knights being arrested by bobbies.
The video game was loosely based on the movie, and several Pythons were involved in its production. It was released by developers, 7th Level, more than twenty years after the movie, in 1996.
7th Level also released two other games - 'Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time' (1994) and 'Monty Python's The Meaning of Life' (1997).
4. Saw

Australian filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell started the 'Saw' horror movie franchise in 2004. Tobin Bell stars as John "Jigsaw" Kramer, who puts his victims in very deadly situations. The series tenth movie, 'Saw X' is a 2023 release.
'Saw: The Video Game' was released in 2009. David Tapp, a detective, has to navigate through an asylum. with all sorts of nasty traps to survive, and objects to collect. Many of the characters are trying to kill him, and even when he escapes, there is every chance his obsession will drive him to madness. Sounds like fun, eh?
5. Grease

'Grease', the movie, starred John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsson, in a cute love story. It was a huge hit, and spawned several hit songs ('Summer Nights', 'Hopelessly Devoted to You', 'You're the One That I Want', among others).
'Grease' the video game came almost 30 years after the movie, and it a dance-based game. It was released in the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. Another game called 'Grease Dance' came out the following year, with a similar aim.
6. Warcraft

'Warcraft: Orcs & Humans' was the first in a long series of games and upgrades. It was initially released in 1994, and was a strategy battle game between Orcs, from Azeroth, and Humans, from the Eastern Kingdoms. In 2004, the franchise became 'World of Warcraft', a subscription-based MMORPG genre, which spawned more than a dozen sequels. It has become one of the most successful franchises ever produced.
The movie 'Warcraft' followed the same premise as the video games, with Orcs again attacking humans. With the help of some treachery in the Orc ranks, the humans eventually win.
The 'Warcraft' name was not just used for games and a movie. There are more than 30 books available, as well as board games, comics and even collector cards.
7. Double Dragon

The Lee brothers, Jimmy and Billy are Sosaiken martial arts experts fighting the baddies, The Black Warriors (aka Shadow Warriors). The game was developed and published by Technōs Japan, in 1987, across multiple platforms.
Seven years on, in 1994, Mark Dacascos and Scott Wolf starred as the Lee brothers, with Alyssa Milano as the heroine, trying to protect an earthquake-devastated Los Angeles from the evil crime lord, Koga Shuko. The movies was not successful, and indeed was rated in the top ten worst video game movies.
8. Tekken

'Tekken' is a fighting game. originally released by Japanese company, Namco, in 1994. The name roughly translates as 'Iron Fist', and there are plenty of THEM in the game. Players can choose from a range of fighters, and even pick locations from around the world.
The 2009 movie pits the goodies versus the baddies in the usual gang warfare. There was also a prequel/sequel released in 2014, named 'Tekken 2: Kazuya's Revenge'.
9. Sonic the Hedgehog

One of the best-known games of all time, it tell of a blue hedgehog who faces off against an evil scientist named Eggman. Eggman needs to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds in order to rule the world, and it is our hero's job to stop him! He uses his blazing speed to collect rings, shields and other assorted protective items. Did you know that Sonic was originally supposed to he a hare?
The movie starred Jim Carrey as the evil Dr Robotnik, who is trying to steal Sonic's power. Ben Schwartz is the voice of Sonic. The movie was filmed in Vancouver and the UAE.
10. Street Fighter

In 2023, the video game franchise had sold more than 50 million units, and was initially released as an arcade game. The premise is a martial arts tournament, where the player controls Ryu with kicks and punches. Ken Masters can be used if a second player is needed. He is based on real-life martial artist, Joe Lewis, who was friends with the legendary Bruce Lee.
The 'Muscles from Brussels', Jean-Claude Van Damme, stars in the movie version of 'Street Fighter', as the good guy. He fights to the death with General Bison, played by Raul Julia, and saves the world!
