Marigold was very religious and had a cross tattoo put on her elbow. This wasn't the reason - it was because she thought she was at a crossroads in her life.

2. What tattoo did Marigold have on her wrist?

Answer: diamond

They were there to cover scars on her wrist. She often said that Star and Dolphin were her two diamonds. Star also gets a diamond nose stud at the end of this book.

3. What was special about Dolphin and Star's bedroom?

Answer: The walls were a sea, and the ceiling had stars

When Star goes to visit Micky, her father, Marigold paints their room white, over the fish and stars, to make it more normal. Star didn't want an abnormal life with her crazy mother and a sad little sister - she just wanted to be with her father. This plot didn't work though - it only made things worse because Marigold had to go into hospital.
