Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Here we start, our first stop is the Chemical Lab, and the scientist there asks us: Which gas is not present in the bulk of space which is the reason that fire cannot be burnt there?

Answer: Oxygen

Fire can be burnt only if oxygen is there, you can observe that by lighting up a candle and putting a glass on it, you will notice that the candle will slowly go out.
2. Our next stop is the Microscope Lab, the scientist asks us: Which insect has formic acid in it?

Answer: Ant

Ants live in colonies, they are very keen workers and always work together. Ants always have a queen and an average ants' colony has a minimum of 100,000 ants.
3. Our next stop is the Animal Observatory, the scientist asks us: What class of animals does a snail belong to?

Answer: gastropods

"Gastropod" is a Greek term which means "stomach foot". A snail moves along by using the muscular foot on the underside of its body. It glides slowly on this foot by waves of muscle movement.
4. Our next stop is the Water Pool, and the scientist there asks us which of the birds below can drink salty water?

Answer: Albatross

The albatross, a bird that lives on the ocean, can drink seawater, which is salty. People and animals can't normally drink salty water because it makes them sick, but albatrosses have special structures near their nasal (nose) area that remove the salt from the water.
5. Our next stop is the Bird Observatory, the scientist asks us if the question is true or false: Some birds squeeze oil onto their feathers to help themselves stay dry.

Answer: True

Did you know that today only birds have feathers, but scientists have found fossils of dinosaurs that were covered with feathers? They are still trying to figure out how birds evolved, perhaps from dinosaurs.
6. While leaving the Bird Observatory, the scientist asks us another true or false question: There is also a bird named the 'Tailor bird'.

Answer: True

The tailor bird of Southeast Asia is well named. It actually sews leaves together with plant fiber, using its bill as a needle.
7. Our next stop is the Science Bakery, the scientist asks us if we know what is the special thing about eggs which makes them stop rolling from the nest?

Answer: Their oval shape.

Eggs are so perfect than an engineer might have designed them. Because of their oval shape, eggs can't roll far from the nest. They wobble when they roll and make small circles.
8. Our next stop is the Creepy Crawlies' section, and the scientist there asks us: What is the thing in worms which helps them breathe oxygen?

Answer: Their skin

Worms don't have lungs like people do. Lungs put oxygen into your blood and take out carbon dioxide, a waste product. Instead, a worm has to rely on its skin for breathing. If the soil that the worm is in gets too wet, the worm will move up to the surface to get more oxygen.
9. While leaving the Creepy Crawlies' section, the scientist asks us: In which country are the world's longest earthworms found?

Answer: Australia

Imagine a worm twice as long as your bicycle. If you lived in Australia, you might dig up one of these Gippsland earthworms, the largest worms in the world.
10. Here comes our last stop, The Eight Legged Creature area. The scientist asks us a true and false question: Spiders belong to an animal group called 'arachnids'.

Answer: True

Spiders are not insects; instead they belong to a group of animals called arachnids. Spiders have 8 legs, 8 eyes, 2 main body parts, and they don't have wings. On the bottom of the back end of a spider's body there are some fingerlike structures called spinnerets. Thank you for playing this quiz.
