Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pikachu

Answer: Electric

The lovely electric mouse, Pikachu, is the most famous of all Pokemons. It is a little chubby, mostly yellow, with pointy ears with black colored tips, and two red circles on his pouches. It attacks by projecting electricity from his body.

At the beginning of the series, Ash was late to pick up a starter Pokemon at his hometown, and he had to go with a Pikachu. It was a little grumpy at first, and would electrify Ash all the time, but they would become inseparable soon after.

Pikachu can evolve into a Raichu, which is a little larger, brownish and with a longer tail.
2. Charmander

Answer: Fire

Charmander is one of the starter Pokemons of the first generation. It is a cute, small orange dinosaur with a flame at the tip of his tail. Its main attack is to breathe fire at enemies.

It has two evolutions: Charmeleon, which is a little darker red, and Charizard, a huge winged dinosaur that can fly.
3. Squirtle

Answer: Water

A blue turtle with big glowing eyes, Squirtle is another of the starter Pokemons. It attacks by spitting a stream of water, and also has two evolutions: Wartortle and Blastoise, which has two huge cannons from which it shoots water! It also likes to wear sunglasses sometimes.
4. Bulbasaur

Answer: Grass

Another of the starter Pokemons and also a very popular one, Bulbasaur looks more like a frog, but it is actually a small, light green, four legged dinosaur with a plant bulb on its back -- that's where it gets it name from.

The bulb is, at the same time, a source of food for Bulbasaur, but it is also its weapon, as it attacks by whipping the enemy with long vines that come out of the bulb.

It has two evolutions: Ivysaur and Venusaur. As it evolves, the bulb on its back turns into a big flower!
5. Zapdos

Answer: Electric

Zapdos is one of the Legendary Pokemons, so it's very rare to see one of them. It is a yellow bird that can control electricity and cause thunder storms. Its feathers are all pointy, looking like lightning bolts.

It doesn't have any evolutions, and it also is not an evolution of any other Pokemon.
6. Vulpix

Answer: Fire

Vulpix is an orange colored fox with bright green eyes and six curled tails. It can control fire easily and shoots it from its mouth to attack enemies or when it needs to cool down.
It evolves into Ninetales, a much larger fox, but white instead of orange, and with -- you guessed it -- nine tails!
7. Horsea

Answer: Water

The name might have given you a clue: Horsea is a small blue seahorse with little cream colored fins, a curled tail and a tube-shaped mouth. It is generally calm, but when threatened, it can defend itself by spitting water or ink.

It can evolve into Seadra, which is a little bigger, with some spikes on its body, and an angrier look on its face.
8. Gloom

Answer: Grass

Gloom is a bluish purple two-legged Pokemon with a brown flower on its head. It usually has a sad face, and it emits a very foul smell that gets even worse when it senses danger. The smell stops when it feels safe, or when a friendly person, or Pokemon, comes close to it.

Gloom is the second stage in the evolution of Oddish. It will later evolve into Vileplume.
9. Electabuzz

Answer: Electric

Electabuzz doesn't resemble any animal, but it could be confused with a tiger at first look -- it has a yellow body with black stripes, and a striped tail too.

This Pokemon feeds on electricity and also uses it as a weapon. It doesn't like the color red -- if it sees something red-colored, it will get very angry and attack it viciously.

In the first generation, Electabuzz doesn't have an evolution, and is also not an evolved form of other Pokemon.
10. Magmar

Answer: Fire

Magmar is a weird Pokemon. Its face looks like that of a duck, but then it has a dinosaur-like body with a long tail, and flames burning all over its body. When it gets hurt, it will heal itself by taking a bath in lava!
11. Seaking

Answer: Water

Another Pokemon that hints at its type with its name. Seaking is an orange, puffy fish, with white fins and a big spike on its forehead. It is said that the spike is very powerful and can dig into stone.

Seaking is the second stage in the evolution of Goldeen.
12. Bellsprout

Answer: Grass

Bellsprout is a thin plant with two green leaves for arms, a couple of tiny roots for feet, a yellow bell-shaped head and a big mouth. It can attack using its leaves as blades, and also whipping the enemy with its branches. It later evolves into Weepinbell and Victreebel.

Fun fact: it looks very similar to Pea Shooter from Plants vs. Zombies! There are a lot of fan made pictures showing the two characters together.
