Monkey, Monkee, Mink or Monk? Trivia Quiz

A simple, if ridiculously contrived, quiz. I'll name something. All you have to do is identify whether it's a type of monkey, a member of popular 60's foursome "the Monkees", a mink, or a monk. What could be easier? Or more pointless?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Davy Jones?

Answer: Monkee

2. Masaaki Sakai?

Answer: Monkey

Masaaki Sakai played "Monkey" in the popular Japanese television series of the same name. It featured the long journey of Monkey, and his friends Sandy (an aquatic creature played by an actor who, in a brilliant piece of casting, actually resembled a fish), Pigsy (a randy porcine monster) and the boy-priest Tripitaka (played by a girl). Or at least I think it did (it sounds rather unlikely now I say it).
3. Robert Nesmith?

Answer: Monkee

Better known as Mike Nesmith (Mike being his middle name), Robert went on to solo success with the song "Rio", whose informative chorus went as follows:

"Perhaps I should fly down to Rio
Using the music for flight
There's nothing I know of in Rio
But it's something to do with the night
It's only a whimsical notion
To fly down to Rio tonight
I probably won't fly down to Rio
But then again I just might."

I don't know about you, but I hope he did.
4. The first Asian American Congresswoman?

Answer: Mink

As I understand it, Patsy Mink of Hawaii was the first Asian American Congresswoman. I'd like to add more, but being British I don't actually know what a congresswoman is. Is it something to do with animal husbandry?
5. Thomas Aquinas?

Answer: Monk

A Dominican Friar of the 13th century, Aquinas is best known for his "5 ways of proving the existence of God", which can all essentially be summarised as "If there were no God, nothing would move.". This seems illogical to me, as if it were true God would cease to exist in heavy traffic.
6. Diana Guenon?

Answer: Monkey

The Diana Guenon is a tree-living African monkey. It was also the name of a French singing star of the 60's (or at least it sounds like it should have been).
7. Peter Thorkelston?

Answer: Monkee

The real name of Peter Tork. I assume he thought that Thorkelston was a silly name and wanted to go with something more sensible. Er ...
8. Roger Bacon?

Answer: Monk

A 13th century monk (friar) and scholar, who made great moves in science in what were rather backward superstitious times. In particular he held the (then somewhat controversial) views that the earth was a sphere and that the calendar should be determined by science rather than dogma.
9. Mustela Vison?

Answer: Mink

Mustela Vison is the formal name of the American mink, the animal that so selflessly gives its life in order that rich ladies can have something to wear to Macy's.
10. Gordo?

Answer: Monkey

Gordo the squirrel monkey, the first primate in space, was launched on Jupiter AM-13 in 1958, before returning to earth and being deliberately drowned in the ocean. This is yet another example of man's inexcusable cruelty to animals. I mean, what kind of name is Gordo?
