Charles, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, also has another title which is the Duke of Rothesay. King Charles has been frequently focused upon in jokes, cartoon images and caricatures. Most often, these all pertain to his jug-ears as well as his large nose.

2. Who was responsible for damage to Evander Holyfield's ear?

Answer: Mike Tyson

June 28, 1997 marked the date of the second boxing bout between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. Holyfield was clearly dominating the fight. He won both the first and the second round, but in round three, Tyson managed to roll his head up above Holyfield's shoulder. Having done that, Tyson then surprisingly bit Holyfield in the ear. Mike Tyson actually managed to bite off a piece of cartilage that was about one inch in size.

This came from the top area of Holyfield's right ear. After the bite, Tyson then spat that piece of cartilage from Holyfield's ear out onto the boxing mat.

The fight carried on and amazingly Tyson took a bite of Holyfield's left ear. It then came as no surprise when the fight was stopped. Mike Tyson was disqualified for biting Holyfield, his boxing license was taken away from him and he was ordered to pay a fine.

Having ears gauged is a method, after initial ear-piercing, to stretch the ear lobes bigger and bigger. A person can wear larger, heavier and thicker ear jewelry once they have had their ears stretched to the size they want. Ear gauging is also expressed as flesh tunnels. Some cultures, where ear gauging and stretching has been used, include Masai tribes in Kenya as well as the Huaorani tribe of the Amazon Basin.

Some reasons for stretching the ear lobes include: to ward off evil spirits, coming of age celebrations and beauty reasons. One of the ways to stretch the ear lobes is by inserting larger plugs into the initial piercing holes.

This gradually stretches the piercing holes larger. Once the stretch has taken place larger plugs are inserted and more stretching occurs.

The process is repeated until the desired size of the stretch is achieved.

It is speculated that on December 23, 1888 when Vincent Willem Van Gogh began to exhibit signs of serious illness and depression. When Van Gogh tried to attack Eugene Henri Paul Gauguin with a razor blade he panicked. He then fled to the local brothel rather than having a disagreeable confrontation with Gauguin.

When Van Gogh reached to the brothel and went inside, in his tormented state, he cut off his own left ear. He then wrapped his ear in newspaper and gave it to a prostitute named Rachel, asking her to keep it safe. Van Gogh then left the brothel and went back home to bed. That is where Gauguin found him covered in a lot of blood from his wound.

This event quickly prompted Gauguin to leave and to end his relationship with Van Gogh. Van Gogh's mental illness grew out of control.

By the young age of thirty-seven he shot himself and was declared deceased on July 27, 1890. Some of Van Gogh's works include "The Potato Eaters", "Sunflowers" and "The Starry Night".

When the corner of a page of a book or a magazine is bent and turned-down it is called a dog-ear. This is the most common way that a dog-ear is done. The term was fashioned after the description of most dogs' ears flopped downward rather than stood erect.
