Cheyenne, Wyoming is the capital and most populated city in Wyoming, USA. It is located in Laramie County. It was named after the Native American Cheyenne in 1867 when it was first founded.

If you travel southeast from Wyoming to Mississippi you will find the capital of Jackson, Mississippi. Jackson is located in Hinds County. It sits on the Pearl River. If we travel northeast from Mississippi to West Virginia, we will arrive at the capital Charleston. Charleston is in Kanawha County. The city is located near where the Elk and Kanawha Rivers connect. If we travel southeast to North Carolina we can go to Raleigh, North Carolina, that state's capital. Most of Raleigh is found in Wake County, but a small portion is in Durham County. Raleigh was a planned city, not a city that was founded due to its location, and was named for Sir Walter Raleigh.

Head back west to the state capital of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
