- Riga is the largest city on the Baltic Sea and was established in 1201 by a German bishop (Albert). Due to its advantageous location on the Gulf of Riga, the city grew to become a major center of medieval trade and prospered as a member of the Hanseatic League.

- Daugavpils features Church Hill which is crowned by historic houses of worship of four different Christian denominations that stand side by side, signifying the multi-religiousness of Daugavpils.

- Liepaja is home to the world's largest unaltered mechanical organ, housed in Liepāja's Holy Trinity Lutheran Cathedral.

- Jelgava is known for its elegant 669-room Baroque palace, situated on an island between the Driksa and Lielupe rivers. It was built by the Duke of Courland in 1771 and served as the governor's residence during the Russian Empire's invasion.

- Jurmala features a grand beach, slightly over 24 km (15 miles) in length, formed of fine white silica sand, which the coastal stream has transported over thousands of years.
