- Skopje is the birthplace of Nobel laureate and humanitarian, Mother Teresa. The city commemorates her legacy with the Mother Teresa Memorial House.

- Kumanovo is the site of the Kokino Megalithic Observatory, one of the oldest astronomical observatories on earth. This Bronze Age archaeological site features impressive stone thrones and markers used to track celestial bodies.

- Bitola was founded in the 4th century BC by Philip II (father of Alexander the Great) and includes the extensive archeological remains of the ancient kingdom of Heraclea Lyncestis.

- Prilep features the whitest marble in the world. The marble is called "Sivec" and was used for the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in the United States.

- Tetovo's biggest tourist attraction is the Painted Mosque or Sarena Dzamija. Originally built in the 15th century, the story goes that the construction was funded by two nuns who are buried in the Turbe (stone monument) just nearby.
