Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Can sis seedy?

Answer: Kansas City

There are two Kansas Cities. One is in the state of Kansas, and the other is in the state of Missouri.
2. Send friend cist go?

Answer: San Francisco

I live across the San Francisco Bay from San Francisco (in Albany, California, which is north of Berkeley). I worked in the city from 1987 to 1999. Now I work at home. I was a supervising editor at a K-12 editorial company called Straight Line Editorial Development. I still do the same kind of work I did at SLED (textbook writing and editing).
3. My yam me?

Answer: Miami

It's in south Florida and it's supposed to be a fun city to visit. Don't go in the summer, though. If you do you will have to spend all of your time in a swimming pool, or in the ocean, or in your air-conditioned hotel room.
4. Whore lend hoe?

Answer: Orlando

Once I spent six weeks living in Orlando. It is in central Florida. There are no beaches there. There are beautiful wetlands filled with long-legged water birds, though. There's also a lot of amusement parks there, including Disney World. In the winter it's not as hot as it is in the summer, but it rains very, very hard. If you are out riding your bike when it starts raining, you may find yourself in two feet of water within a half an hour. Also, there are huge scary bugs in Orlando.
5. Sandy echo?

Answer: San Diego

San Diego is in southern California. I used to have a family of cousins there. It has a world-famous zoo and outdoor Shakespeare plays. It is also near Sea World and Lego Land, and not too far from Disneyland. There are beautiful beaches near San Diego, but it is too hot there for me.
6. Gnash full?

Answer: Nashville

I've not been there, but my husband has. It's in Tennessee and it's of course the Country Music capital of the world. The Grand Ole Opry is there. My favorite country music artists are Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. Nashville is also the home of novelist Ann Patchett, who owns a bookstore there.
7. Ad lamb daw?

Answer: Atlanta

Atlanta is a vibrant city in Georgia; it is Georgia's capital. It was made famous by the Civil War novel and the movie "Gone with the Wind." Visitors can take a tour of famous sites relevant to African American history and the Civil Rights struggle.
8. Fill a dill fee yaw?

Answer: Philadelphia

I've been to the airport there, but I'd like to go back to the city and see the Liberty Bell and eat a cheese steak. As you probably know, it is in Pennsylvania. Benjamin Franklin was from there.
9. Sack crumb mental?

Answer: Sacramento

It's California's state capital city. I like the city but it's too hot much of the time. UC Davis is nearby and they have a veterinary school that once saved the life of our dog Lisa when she had leptospirosis. Davis is nicer than Sacramento, in my opinion.
10. Sylph furs prink?

Answer: Silver Spring

To prink means to stand in front of a mirror fixing your hair, makeup, and making sure you don't look fat. Silver Spring is in Maryland; it's near Washington, DC, speaking of which, the D stands for District and the C stands for Columbia, and there's an "of" in between those two words.

In case you didn't know, the U.S. Capitol is not in any particular U.S. state--it's in between Virginia and Maryland, so some of the federal workers live in places like Silver Spring and Alexandria, Virginia.
11. Din fur?

Answer: Denver

Denver is the biggest city in Colorado. I lived there in the 1970s. I worked at the Magic Pan, a crepe restaurant in Larimer Square, an historic area near the city center. I also worked at an ice-cream parlor called Michelle's, and at Clark's Coffee Shop and The Broker, a fancy restaurant situated in a former bank--there was even one dining room inside "the vault"--it had a big round door and everything.
12. See addle?

Answer: Seattle

It's a wonderful city in Washington State, and it's pretty close to British Columbia, Canada, too. They have beautiful community gardens and excellent restaurants. Don't miss Pike Street Market if you visit.
13. Sand awe barre borough?

Answer: Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara is located on the coast of southern/central California. I lived there for about four years when I was in college at UCSB. Even Isla Vista, the student ghetto, is pretty nice. It's a lovely region about two hours north of Los Angeles and south of San Luis Obispo. If you visit California, don't miss it.

It's warmish most of the year and has beautiful beaches AND Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved there (in Montecito, the posh neighborhood) with their two darling children.
14. Brr bunk?

Answer: Burbank

It is in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. It's where Disney is headquartered. My husband used to live near there, in Studio City where a lot of Hollywood people live. He moved north to live with me in the SF Bay Area. I used to fly into Burbank Airport when we were having our long-distance relationship.
15. Chick cog hoe?

Answer: Chicago

Chicago is in Illinois--it's one of the U.S. cities that most foreigners have heard of. It's where Michelle Obama grew up and where she met Barack when they were working at the same law firm. Called "The Windy City," Chicago is located at the south western tip of Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes.

It's famous for meatpacking plants. Scott Turow, who wrote "Presumed Innocent" and many other legally-themed mysteries, is from Chicago. In his books he fictionalizes Chicago and its suburbs, calling it "Kindle County."
