Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A supervolcano underlies one of America's favourite National Parks. Where would you visit to see the world's largest collection of hot springs, geysers and mud pools?

Answer: Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone sits over a hotspot where magma from the core of the earth rises toward the surface. Major eruptions have at times been large enough to drop a foot of ash more than 1000 miles away. Yellowstone experiences between 1000 to 2000 measurable earth quakes every year.

A supereruption which took place 640,000 years ago is responsible for most of the calderas that exists at Yellowstone today.

Although the Soviet army invaded Finland during the Winter War of 1939 two months after invading Poland, and the Soviets during the 20th century tried to subvert Finland's government, Finland never became a part of the USSR. Prudently, Finland took no side during the Cold War so as not to provoke more problems with its gigantic neighbor to the east.
