Answer: Only legion in Senate Province

The III Augusta was the only legion of Rome at that time which was controled by the Senate. All others were placed in territories directly under the Emperor's control.

All these legions were destroyed in Teutoburg Forest in AD 9. This cut down the Roman legion strength down to only 25 in the whole Empire, with only two left in Germania.
