Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which "bar" was made with peanuts and caramel covered in milk chocolate?

Answer: Reggie Bar

Like the very famous Baby Ruth bar this one is named for a New York Yankee great. The bar is named for Mister October himself Reggie Jackson. While many other bars have the same ingredients, there is just no mistaking the Reggie Bar. The Reggie Bar was not bar shaped rather it was a round patty.
2. This bar was released nationwide in the USA in 1987. The original formula consisted of a cocoa wafer, chocolate filling, peanuts and a milk chocolate coating. In 1993, the product was reformulated into two wafers with chocolate coating, peanuts, and caramel. Which of these was it?

Answer: Bar None

This bar was tested in California back in 1986 and released nationwide 1987. When it was first released it was quite successful. Sadly the bar only lasted a few years after they reformulated it. A little side note to anyone that has been to Hersheypark in Hershey PA knows they use candy bars to represent ride height requirements.

At one point the Bar None was the tallest of the ride heights.
3. This bar is made of taffy and a chocolate cream. What was it called?

Answer: Abba-Zaba Chocolate bar

Abba-Zaba Chocolate is a twist on the original Abba-Zaba bar. The main difference is that Abba-Zaba Chocolate has a chocolate cream in the middle that replaces peanut butter stripe. The Abba-Zaba bar is found mostly in the western US. You can, however, find it in candy specialty shops in the eastern US.
4. This bar is a nut roll covered in milk chocolate. What is it called?

Answer: Chicken Dinner Bar

The Chicken Dinner Bar had been in production since The Great Depression. It was called this in reference to President Herbert Hoover's promise of "a chicken in every pot". The bar did not contain chicken or other poultry products at all.
5. This bar was made of peanut butter, chocolate, and oats all piled atop a whole grain cookie foundation.

Answer: PB Max

In the book "The Emperors of Chocolate: Inside the Secret World of Hershey and Mars", the reason the PB Max was discontinued was due to the Mars family's hatred of peanut butter. It's too bad Mars discontinued these because they were delicious.
6. Which of these was fudge with peanuts and caramel?

Answer: Powerhouse Bar

The bar was made by Peter Paul (now owned by Hershey Foods). The wrapper for the bar was blue and white and looked similar to their other famous bar of the time Almond Joy.
7. This thin bar is milk chocolate covered nougat. Be careful though because this sounds like another famous candy bar.

Answer: Yoo-Hoo Bar

The Yoo-Hoo Bar tasted like a 3 Musketeers bar but it was much thinner. The Yoo-Hoo bar made a claim that it was "50% LESS FAT Than Leading Chocolate Brands".
8. This bar was either milk or dark chocolate filled with orange jelly, maple, caramel, Brazil nut, fudge, coconut and white cream.

Answer: Seven Up bar

The Seven Up bar was made Trudeau Co. It was bought by the 7-Up Bottling Co. So they could have the rights to the name. The Skybar is still made today by the Necco Co. It is said to be close to the Seven Up bar. However it does not have the orange jelly like the Seven Up bar did.
9. This fun little bar was made with nougat covered with caramel and milk chocolate.

Answer: Milkshake bar

Oh man, this was one good bar. It really did taste like a milkshake! The bar was made by the Hollywood brand.
10. This bar was made of a dark chocolate coating with marshmallow nougat filling with almonds.

Answer: Hollywood Bar

The Hollywood bar was very yummy indeed. The closest bar out there would be Snickers Almond (if they made a dark chocolate version). But even that one isn't close enough to suit me.
