Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did Dustfinger and Farid first see Orpheus?

Answer: In a library

Orpheus is like Mo and Meggie. He can read people into books, as well as read them out. Farid nicknames Orpheus Cheeseface. Dustfinger gives Orpheus 'Inkheart', the book he stole from Mo. He tells Orpheus to read him and Farid back into the book. He then gives Farid the book to look after, although Orpheus longs to keep it himself. Gwin, the marten, will not be read back into the book. Orpheus manages to read Dustfinger back into 'Inkheart' but not Farid.
2. What is the name of Orpheus's dog?

Answer: Cerberus

The other options appear in the "Harry Potter" series. Orpheus purposely did not read Farid into 'Inkheart'. Basta, Capricorn's most loyal servant appears and takes 'Inkheart' from Farid. Farid manages to escape from Basta, taking with him Orpheus's piece of paper, which read Dustfinger back into 'Inkheart'. Farid plans to look for Meggie and her father, so he can follow Dustfinger. Dustfinger misses Farid and Gwin at first but is extremely happy to be back.

The water nymphs cover Dustfinger with a slimy deposit so he is able to get some fire honey from the fire-elves. Dustfinger now wears a red and black outfit, like all the fire-eaters.
3. Before Dustfinger was read back into 'Inkheart', he visited Elinor's house with Farid. He left a present for Resa. What type of flowers was the bundle tied up with?

Answer: Speedwell

Meggie, Mo and Resa now live with Elinor and Darius, the stumbling reader from 'Inkheart', in Elinor's home. Meggie is trying to learn how to read people in and out of books. Mo does not approve of the idea; he even wishes he could not do it sometimes. Mo quarrels with Meggie before going away on a bookbinding job. Farid turns up at Elinor's home.
Farid begs Meggie to read him into the book, from Orpheus's paper. He wants to warn Dustfinger about Basta. Mo is on the way back from his job when he learns that Basta is back.
4. What was Cloud-Dancer's profession before he was injured?

Answer: Tightrope walker

Cloud-Dancer is now a messenger for rhe Strolling Players. Cloud-Dancer is an old friend of Dustfinger's. He tells him everything that has happened since Dustfinger disappeared. Prince Cosimo the Fair is now dead. Dustfinger had two daughters in the Inkworld, to a minstrel woman. Mo is back. Meggie has written out Orpheus's words again.

But she has added extra words too. If she is able to read Farid into 'Inkheart', then she wants to go too.
5. What is the name of Dustfinger's wife?

Answer: Roxane

Dustfinger goes to see his wife. His daughter, Rosanna, died of a fever. His eldest daughter, Brianna, is now 15. She works at the castle; she reads to Violante, the daughter of the Adderhead. Violante is also the widow of Prince Cosimo the Fair. They have a son, Jacopo. Roxane also has another son, Jehen. Jehen's father died in a fire.
6. In which schoolbook did Meggie hide the piece of paper, which will hopefully take her and Farid into the Inkworld?

Answer: Geography

Meggie hopes to meet Fenoglio, the original author of 'Inkheart' in the Inkworld, so he can read her back to the real world. She knows why Dustfinger insisted on leaving Gwin behind, but does not tell Farid. Meggie manages to read herself and Farid into the book.
7. What is the realm of the Adderhead called in Inkworld?

Answer: Argenta

Argent is Latin for silver. Gwin has been read into the Inkworld too. Meggie tells Farid that in the original 'Inkheart' story, Dustfinger dies after protecting Gwin. Dustfinger hopes that if Gwin were left behind, he would not die.
8. How many days after Meggie has disappeared, does Orpheus turn up at Elinor's?

Answer: 3 days

Mo realises he has lost his daughter, just as he lost Resa, ten years before. Orpheus is with Basta and Mortola, Capricorn's mother; Basta met Orpheus while he was in prison.
9. What is the Adderhead's castle called?

Answer: Castle of the Night

Fenoglio is alive and well in the Inkworld. He is going to see the Black Prince, the leader of the Strolling Players. There are two rulers in the Inkworld. There is the Adderhead, a ruthless slavedriver, and the Laughing Prince, better known as the Prince of Sighs. The Laughing Prince rules Ombra. The Laughing Prince is grieving for his son, Cosimo the Fair.
10. The Black Prince has a pet. What is it?

Answer: A bear

Fenoglio has been writing songs for the Strolling Players, mostly about the Bluejay, a robber. Apparently, some of the songs are coming true. The Strolling Players only go to Argenta because they get paid well. The Black Prince takes Fenoglio to Meggie and Farid, who were found wandering about. Farid goes off alone to find Dustfinger, while Meggie goes with Fenoglio to his lodgings.
11. Who does Fenoglio lodge with?

Answer: Minerva

Fenoglio's lodgings are near the castle of the Laughing Prince. The Prince's spoilt grandson - Cosimo and Violante's son - Jacopo will be celebrating his birthday soon. There is going to be a huge celebration, even the Strolling Players will attend. Fenoglio says he will take Meggie to the castle with him.

Then he will read Meggie back to the real world. Farid finds Dustfinger with Roxane and Jehen. He has to lie to Dustfinger, and say that Gwin is still in the real world. Gwin is now loose in Inkworld; Farid doesn't know where he is. Roxane seems to think Farid is Dustfinger's son.
12. "I want to see your daughter die before you die yourself." Who says this to Mo?

Answer: Mortola

Mortola seems convinced that Capricorn is still alive in the Inkworld. She wants Mo and Meggie punished. When Mortola realises Meggie is in the story, she gets Orpheus to read herself, Basta and Mo into the Inkworld. Resa grabs hold of Mo, and she is read into it too.
13. What animal did Capricorn's men draw on his fortress walls, in the old days?

Answer: Goat

Resa discovers she has got her voice back, when she enters the Inkworld. Capricorn's fortress is now burnt to the ground. Mortola has to accept that Capricorn is gone in the Inkworld too. Mortola shoots Mo in the chest, seriously injuring him, before she and Basta leave. Someone comes to help Resa and Mo, and then goes for help from the Strolling Players.
14. What is the emblem of the Laughing Prince?

Answer: Lion and white rose

Fenoglio has a glass man to help him with his work called Rosenquartz. He takes Meggie to Ombra Castle with two of Minerva's children, Despina and Ivo. Lots of people are at the castle, rich and poor, to celebrate Prince Jacopo's birthday.
15. In the old days, who was Capricorn's deputy?

Answer: Firefox

Meggie sees the Adderhead at Ombra Castle. Of course, Jacopo is also his grandson too. The Black Prince and the Adderhead taunt each other. Fenoglio gets permission to see the Laughing Prince.
