Many of Dean Koontz' novels have been made into movies including "Hideaway" (with Jeff Goldblum), "Phantoms" (with Peter O'Toole and Ben Affleck), "Watchers" (with Michael Ironside and the late Cory Haim), "Whispers" (starring Victoria Tennant and Chris Sarandon), "The Funhouse" (directed by Tobe Hooper) and "Odd Thomas" (starring the late Anton Yelchin).
"Demon Seed" became his first best-seller after the movie adaptation was released in 1977.
"Icebound" was first published as "Prison of Ice". It is about scientists trapped by a storm on an iceberg they are towing to be used as drought relief.
"The Face of Fear" is about a mountain climber who, due to a fall, gets the ability to see murders as they are happening. He and his girlfriend end up trying to avoid a serial killer he saw claiming a victim while he was being interviewed on live television.
"Santa's Twin" is about two young girls saving Santa from his evil twin Bob, who has stolen the sleigh and filled the toy bag with cat poop and broccoli and other gross stuff to deliver. This novel was published in 1995.
"Breathless" is about a Colorado carpenter who discovers two animals with beautiful fur that he has never seen anything like before. He gets a veterinarian friend to try and help him figure out what kind of animal they are, but they are being watched by Homeland Security and soon find themselves under quarantine.
"The Good Guy" is about a stone mason who is in a bar one night and gets mistaken for a hitman. He is given cash with a photo and name of the intended victim, and he decides to try and save her.
"Life Expectancy" is about a man who is born just as his grandfather dies, having told the father about five terrible days that will happen in the boy's life.
"Lightning" is about a woman who is born during a freak lightning storm. She is saved by a blonde stranger who prevents a drunk doctor from delivering her, although her mother dies. Then when she is eight he saves her and her father during a robbery at her father's store. He appears again at her father's funeral four years later. Is he her guardian angel?
"The Mask" is about a married couple, Carol and Paul, finding a girl with amnesia wandering in traffic. They take her in, but Carol soon starts having nightmares about a bloody face in a mirror and an axe.
