Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the group attacking orc settlements in the prelude of the book?

Answer: Casin Cu Calas

The group was attacking orcs because they believed that the orcs had no right to have a kingdom. The group had a mix of different races. We really don't see much of the group in this book, mainly just in the prologue, wherein Drizzt fights with a part of the group.

This leads to members of the group feeling that Drizzt is something of a traitor for defending the Kingdom of Many-Arrows.
2. What or who was Catti-Brie and Wulfgar searching for at the beginning of the book?

Answer: Colson

Colson had been given to an old woman named Cottie by Delly Curtie before Delly died. They didn't think that it had been right that Colson had been removed from Wulfgar's care. Although it's not indicated early on, we find out later that Catti-Brie and Wulfgar had slightly different motivations for doing this.
3. Who did Obould choose to replace Tsinka Shinrill as shaman of his clan?

Answer: Kna

Kna is the only one listed that is part of Obould's clan. The other 3 are all members of Clan Karuck. From what it looks like in the book, Clan Karuck was not part of the war to begin with, although that is more speculation than actual stated fact. Kna definitely had a different demeanor and different mannerisms from Tsinka.

While Tsinka was obsessed to the point of insanity, Kna tended to be more calculating.
4. What happened to Innovindil in this book?

Answer: killed in battle with Clan Karuck

Clan Karuck was attempting to force Obould's hand, and attacking the Moonwood was a part of it. The clan was not at all happy about Obould's decision to slow down, and word had it that he wasn't going to continue the war. As such, Clan Karuck was operating without Obould's permission or knowledge. Innovindil was caught up in the fighting, and was killed.
5. Where did Wulfgar and Catti-Brie find Colson?

Answer: Nesme

Most if not all of the refugees went to Nesme to help restore the town. Catti-Brie and Wulfgar found this out while passing through Silverymoon. There was some trouble involved in that the refugees didn't want to allow Catti-Brie and Wulfgar to take Colson away from Cottie, but it proved a difficult case to win when Colson was calling out "Da!" repeatedly upon seeing Wulfgar.
6. What was Drizzt helping Bruenor do in this book?

Answer: trying to find Gauntlgrym again

Bruenor was obsessed with finding the lost kingdom of the dwarves. At one point, it almost appeared that they actually did find it. However, there were several indications that the city they found had at one point been above ground. Enough spring melts had occurred to cause the city to be buried in a cavern beneath the mountain range, and certain statues indicated that it was likely that dwarves and orcs had lived together in the city.
7. Where did Wulfgar go right after getting Colson back?

Answer: Auckney

Wulfgar wanted to return Colson to her real mother. He felt that it was the right thing for Colson to be raised in Auckney with her real mother. After this, Wulfgar returned to Icewind Dale to return to the life he had known, and back to his fellow barbarians.
8. What offer did Alustriel make to Catti-Brie?

Answer: to be trained in wizardry

Since Catti-Brie's hip was injured, she was no longer able to fight. Teaching Catti-Brie was apparently a gesture to allow Catti-Brie a way to learn something new. It took a lot of talking to convince Catti-Brie, though. The concept of being a magic-user was not a normal thing for her, perhaps because of the fact that she had been raised among dwarves all her life.
9. What happened to Tos'un Armgo at the end of the book?

Answer: he went to the Moonwood with the moon elves

There was really no other place for Tos'un to go at this point. To his benefit, he had shown a change of heart and helped in the fighting. He had been using Khazid'hea, and Drizzt asked the moonelves to take the sword with them. Whether or not Tos'un got it back is unclear at this point.
10. What occurred between Obould and Bruenor at the end of the book?

Answer: they signed a treaty

Both Obould and Bruenor were instrumental in killing Grguch. Obould had decided that he had done enough, and simply wanted to establish a kingdom as it was. Bruenor, although not real fond of the idea, saw the practicality of the idea. Both sides had lost a lot in the campaign.
