1. Lengthy Avoidance

In "Brief Encounter" (1945), a lonely housewife (Celia Johnson) meets a married doctor (Trevor Howard) at a train station. When they run into each other again, they develop a friendship and agree to meet at the train station once a week. Their friendship develops into a passionate affair, and although Laura is excited by the attention, she is very uncomfortable about being unfaithful to her husband.

While at a friend's apartment, they are startled by the friend's return; they both realize that they can never be together and so they decide to meet once more to say goodbye.
2. Nights of Hell

"Days of Heaven" (1978) is the story of Bill (Richard Gere) a steel mill worker who accidentally kills his foreman in a fight; his lover, Abby (Brooke Adams); and his sister Linda (Linda Manz). Pretending to be siblings, all three escape Chicago by hopping a train to Texas to look for a better life. They find work on a wheat farm, but jealousy, impatience and 'accidents' soon have them on the run again.

In "The Thin Man" (1934), Dorothy Wynant (Maureen O'Sullivan) visits her father in New York with her new fiancé to tell him they are engaged. When her father opens his safe to give them some stock certificates as a wedding gift, he realizes his mistress has stolen them.

When Dorothy's father disappears and his mistress is murdered, Dorothy approaches former private detective Nick Charles (William Powell); and even though Nick doesn't really want to take a case after a four year absence, his wife, Nora (Myrna Loy) talks him into it hoping it will bring some excitement into their lives.

After two more murders occur, Nick and Nora invite all of their suspects to dinner, hoping to solve the case.
5. After Sunset

Answer: Before Sunrise

"Before Sunrise" (1995) is the story of a brief encounter between American tourist, Jesse (Ethan Hawke), and French student, Celine (Julie Delpy). They meet on a train headed for Vienna and their strong connection leads them to spend one night together in the city before Jesse catches a plane back home the next morning. Since they don't have much money, they roam the city and talk throughout the night, getting to know each other.

In the morning, they return to the train station and agree to meet there in six months.
6. The Prince Groom

In the "The Princess Bride" (1987), a grandfather reads a bedtime story to his sick grandson; and as he reads, the fairy tale comes alive.

When her true love, Westley (Cary Elwes), is believed dead, the beautiful Buttercup (Robin Wright) says she will never love again; but when she reluctantly agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandan), she is kidnapped by outlaws before they can be married. Meanwhile, Westley returns as the Dread Pirate Roberts and must rescue his beloved. Accompanying him are a swordsman and a super strong giant who will try to help him in his quest. Their journey is filled with swordsmen, giants, kidnappers, rodents of unusual sizes, and lots of adventure.
7. The Little Awake

In "The Big Sleep" (1946), Private Eye Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) is hired to watch over a General's youngest daughter (Martha Vickers). She is in danger of doing damage to herself and her family when she falls into bad company. Marlowe soon finds himself falling in love with the oldest daughter (Lauren Bacall), who seems to not like him at all. Murder and mayhem just might change that relationship.
8. Acquiescence

"Defiance" is a 2008 film starring Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber as Jewish brothers who escape death in Nazi occupied Europe by hiding in the forest. They set up a camp and welcome other survivors, but they disagree about what to do as the camp grows larger.

"The Odd Couple" is a 1968 comedy about two divorced men who end up living together. Felix (Jack Lemmon) is on the verge of suicide after his wife kicks him out, until Oscar (Walter Matthau) invites him to move in with him. It doesn't take long before Felix, a neat freak, is getting on messy Oscar's last nerve.

Their different lifestyles result in several conflicts; but in the end, it's because of their differing lifestyles that they both learn love, trust, and friendship are more important to them than their physical surroundings.
10. The Traitor

"The Patriot" (2000) is the story of Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson), a widowed father of seven who fought in the French and Indian War. He chooses not to fight as the American Revolution begins; believing he can keep his family safe. When the fighting literally lands on his front lawn, a British Colonel arrests one of his sons and shoots another.

After burying one young son, and rescuing the other, Martin realizes that traditional tactics won't work against this enemy, and he organizes a guerilla unit to harass Cornwallis' army.
