Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Christopher Edward Nolan was born in 1970 in London, UK. In 1997, he married Emma Thomas, who serves as the producer for most of Nolan's films.

Nolan's directorial debut is the crime-thriller film entitled "Following" (1998), produced on a meager budget of 6000 pounds. The film showcases a non-linear plot, a technique that would later become a hallmark of many of Nolan's subsequent films.

The non-linear narrative was prominently featured in Nolan's next film, "Memento" (2000). The storyline revolves around a man diagnosed with anterograde amnesia.

"Insomnia" (2002) is a remake of a Norwegian film with the same title. It stands out as one of the very few films directed by Nolan in which he did not take on the role of the writer.

Nolan also directed "The Dark Knight" trilogy, consisting of the films "Batman Begins" (2005), "The Dark Knight" (2008), and "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012).

"The Prestige" (2006) is a psychological thriller film based on a novel written by Christopher Priest. The storyline revolves around two rival magicians attempting to outdo each other.

Nolan directed and wrote the script for "Inception" (2010), a mind-boggling film featuring professional thieves who implant ideas in their targets' subconscious. The film is notable for its iconic rotating hallway scene.

"Interstellar" (2014) portrays a dystopian world where a group of astronauts is tasked with searching for a new home for mankind. Nolan directed, co-wrote, and produced this epic science fiction film.

In "Dunkirk" (2017), Nolan masterfully tells the story from three perspectives - air, land, and sea. The film was nominated for the Oscar for Best Picture but lost to "The Shape of Water" (2017).

Nolan's next film is "Tenet" (2020), a science, action thriller exploring the concept of time travel. It took Nolan five years to write the script for the film.

"Oppenheimer" (2023) is Nolan's first biographical film. The story follows the life of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his contribution to the development of the world's first atomic bomb.

Of the incorrect options, "Titanic" (1997) and "Avatar" (2009) were directed by James Cameron, "Fight Club" (1999) was directed by David Fincher, "The Terminal" (2004) was directed by Steven Spielberg, "Stardust" (2007) was directed by Matthew Vaughn, "Argo" (2012) was directed by Ben Affleck, "Jurassic World" (2015) was directed by Colin Trevorrow, "Green Book" (2018) was directed by Peter Farrelly, and "Knives Out" (2019) was directed by Rian Johnson.

The red herring is "Man of Steel" (2013), which was not directed by Nolan. However, Nolan served as the producer and co-writer of the film. The film was directed by Zack Snyder.
