As things progressively became worse, her flock grew and her rationale and mercy began to demand a sacrifice to the creatures in the mist. The two chosen for the sacrifice were David's son, Billy, and Amanda.

Four people escaped the supermarket along with David. His son Billy, Amanda, Irene, and Dan Miller all made good their escape. David Drayton eventually was the only survivor of the escape. Without knowing what was happening, all the adults agreed to suicide with David being the shooter without any means of ending his own life.

A tragic ending because the first woman who left the supermarket was seen aboard a truck alive and it was not the end of everything.
