She was born Marian Evelyn Faithfull in Hampstead, London. Her father was a British military officer and professor.
2. Marianne's mother had royal lineage. What was her title?

Answer: Baroness

Her mother was Baroness Eva Erisso of Austrian descent. Her roots trace back to the Hapsburg Dynasty. She performed as a ballerina and worked with the German theatrical duo Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill. This would have a profound effect on Marianne. She recorded an album including some Brecht and Weill songs later in her career.

She gravitated to the Progress Theatre division of the prestigious school and began a love for acting which would assist her in her musical performing as well as instill an acting interest in her.

Marianne penned "Sister Morphine". It was on the Rolling Stones' 1971 "Sticky Fingers" album. The writing credit for the song became the subject of a lengthy legal battle. Faithfull was eventually listed as co-author of the song. In her autobiography, Faithfull relates that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards published it in their own names so that her agent would not collect all the royalties from the song, especially considering that she was homeless and battling with heroin addiction by the time it was recorded.

Many critics hailed this work as her finest album since "Broken English". It included collaborations with Daniel Lanois, Emmylou Harris, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters and writer (and friend) Frank McGuiness. Later that year she sang "Love Got Lost" on Joe Jackson's "Night and Day II" album.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, but made a full recovery and returned to perform concerts and appear in film and stage productions.
