Answer: Joey Jordison

Joey Jordison (#1) was one of the co-founders of Slipknot which first formed in 1995. Jordison served as the band's drummer until he was unceremoniously fired in 2013 for alleged drug abuse. Jay Weinberg took over as Slipknot's drummer in 2014, but Jordison's #1 was not reassigned to him. Joey Jordison passed away at age 46 on July 26, 2021 following a battle with a disease called transverse myelitis which affects a person's spinal cord.

Answer: Paul Gray

Paul Gray (#2) who was also referred to as "The Pig" was the original bassist for Slipknot. Sadly, Paul Grey was found dead on May 24, 2010 at age 38. An autopsy performed on the body about a month later revealed that Grey had died from a drug overdose.

The band continued to perform with no official bassist until 2014, when it was revealed that Alex Venturella would permanently take over the role.

Chris Fehn was the third Slipknot band member to be labeled #3. The first was Greg "Cuddles" Welts who served as a percussionist in the band from 1997-1998. Welts was fired due to personal issues between himself and Joey Jordison. Brandon Darner (the second #3) replaced Greg Welts for a short time until Chris Fehn joined the band in 1998. Chris Fehn himself left Slipknot in 2019 due to a financial dispute with the band and was replaced with Michael Pfaff.

Jim Root (#4), who joined Slipknot in 1999, is one of the band's two lead guitarists. He also served as a guitarist for the band Stone Sour alongside vocalist Corey Taylor. Jim Root was the second Slipknot band member to be known as #4. The first was Josh "Gnar" Brainerd, who served as one of Slipknot's original guitarists from 1995-1999.

Craig Jones (#5) joined Slipknot in 1996. He is known as a sampler, a musician who mixes digital and electronic sounds into Slipknot's songs. His nickname "133" refers to 133 MHz (the processing speed of his computer when he joined the band). While 133 MHz may seem primitive by today's technology, in the mid-90s it would have been considered to be top of the line.

Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan (#6) is the only member of Slipknot to have remained with the band since its founding in 1995. Shawn Crahan is believed to have been the band member who started Slipknot's mask-wearing tradition as he allegedly wore clown masks during rehearsals before the band gained its notoriety.

Mick Thompson (#7) is the second of Slipknot's two lead guitarists. Mick Thompson joined the band in 1996 and is known for wearing a metallic hockey mask that makes him look like Hannibal Lecter. Mick Thompson also has the word "seven" tattooed on his left arm.

Corey Taylor is the lead vocalist for Slipknot. He joined the band in 1998, taking over the lead vocalist role from founding member Anders Cosefini. When numbers were being chosen by the band members, Corey chose number 8 due to it symbolizing infinity when the number is turned on its side

None of the Slipknot band members have ever been labeled as #9. Only numbers 0-8 have been attributed to the musicians. Despite becoming full time members of Slipknot, Jay Weinberg, Alex Venturella and Michael Pfaff have not been assigned a number. Jay and Alex are sometimes referred to by the letters J and V respectively. Slipknot does have their own brand of whiskey which they have named "No. 9", which was created via a partnership with Iowa based Cedar Ridge Distillery.

Sid Wilson serves as Slipknot's turntable specialist. He joined Slipknot in 1998 and chose to be #0 stating "I am not a number. I am zero. I am filth." Sid Wilson is a big fan of "The Transformers" and has performed solo as an electronic musician by the name of DJ Starscream.
