1. Which band called it quits after the death of their drummer, John Bonham, in 1980?

John "Bonzo" Bonham had worked with vocalist Robert Plant in Crawling King Snakes and when Jimmy Page was putting together a band following the demise of the Yardbirds, he chose Plant as vocalist who in turn recommended Bonham. With the addition of John Paul Jones on bass, Led Zeppelin was born and they released their debut album in 1969, followed by seven more albums over the next decade, before Bonham's death, caused by pulmonary aspiration in 1980. Following his death, the rest of the band released a statement which read, "We wish it to be known that the loss of our dear friend and the deep respect we have for his family, together with the sense of undivided harmony felt by ourselves and our manager, have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were." Led Zeppelin released a final album entitled "Coda" in 1982, which consisted of out takes from various recording sessions, including a drum solo from Bonham entitled "Bonzo's Montreux".

They reunited for one show in 2007 with John's son Jason on the drums. But for the most part, singer Robert Plant has not wanted to continue Led Zeppelin without John Bonham.

He was a very talented as a drummer and even played in bands for Leon Russell, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson. On Leon Russell recordings, Gary was credited under the names "Teddy Jack Eddy" and "Sprunk". The names had to do with a character he created when he was on a Tulsa, Oklahoma comedy television show called "The Uncanny Film Festival and Camp Meeting". As far as the band Carp goes, the back cover of the LP has liner notes that say: "Carp was formed in the spring of 1966 by four Oklahoma State University students looking to pick up some extra money. Gary Busey on drums, guitarist Ron Getman, John Crowder on bass and Glen Mitchell playing honky-tonk piano make up the group". It went on to say: "Carp" cuts through the chocolate-pudding texture of rock to come up with an open, easy sound" and "Carp doesn't knock you over with a wall of sound; these are basic harmonies and simple, solid rhythms". The "Carp" LP was released in 1969 on the Epic Records label. Original copies can still be found at a fair price. Youtube is the website to check out if you like to hear obscure bands such as Carp.
