Besides reaching the top ten in weekly charts in the US, Canada, Australia, and South Africa in 1969, it has had an enduring appeal in various sporting venues. The Boston Red Sox, a Major League Baseball team, have played the song at home games in Fenway Park since 1997.

The Carolina Panthers, a National Football League team, have played the song at all of their home games in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1996.

A number of universities in the US also play "Sweet Caroline" as part of their sports rallies.
2. James Brown had a hit in 1965 with "Papa's Got a Brand New ______ ".

Answer: Bag

The "bag" in the title of this song refers to the older man in the lyrics who shows that he is brave enough to get up on the dance floor and dance to the new style of music that is being played. "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" was written and sung by James Brown on the single that was released in 1965.

It did well on the charts, and won Brown his first Grammy Award for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording in the year that it was released.
