Laura Ingalls Wilder is the author of the "Little House on the Prairie" series. She was born in Pepin County, Wisconsin on February 7, 1867. She passed away at the age of 90 in Mansfield, Missouri. Ma, Pa, Mary and Laura are all characters from her popular book series.

Betty Friedan, author of "The Feminine Mystique," was born in Peoria, Illinois.

Louisa Mary Alcott was born in Wolcott, New Haven, Connecticut.
