Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. People get haircuts all the time, but did you know that certain haircuts are sinful? Which of these haircuts is banned by the Old Testament?

Answer: All of these

The Old Testament actually does ban all-round haircuts. In Leviticus 19:27 it reads, "You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard."
2. We all have played sports at one time or another, but did you know that one sport (in its traditional sense) is banned by the Old Testament? Which one was banned?

Answer: Football

Yes, football is actually banned by the Old Testament, at least in the olden days when it was played with a traditional pigskin. Leviticus 11:8 reads, "You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you." This also means that if you have ever eaten bacon, pork, or ham, you have disobeyed this rule.
3. Believe it or not, the Old Testament also bans a certain part of the newspaper. Which part?

Answer: Horoscope

The Old Testament bans all forms of fortune telling, including horoscopes. The punishment for such an act is exile. In Leviticus 19:31 it says, "Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God."
4. According to the word of the Old Testament, it is a sin to get a tattoo of a cross on your body.

Answer: True

The Old Testament is set against all tattoos, even religious tattoos. Leviticus 19:28 reads, "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord."
5. The type of shirt you are wearing right now may be a transgression of the Old Testament. Which of these materials IS definitely acceptable for wearing, according to the Bible?

Answer: Cotton

All the other fabrics are immoral because they are sinfully unnatural. Leviticus 19:19 reads, "You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together."
You might want to check the tag on your shirt after this...
6. Although most churches are willing to accept anyone who walks through their doors, the Old Testament does ban certain people from entering. The lack of what body part would cause someone to be banned from religious services according to Old Testament law?

Answer: Genitals

While you may not believe it, the Old Testament does ban those who have lost their genitals from entering places of worship. Whether it was to cancer or castration, it doesn't matter. Deuteronomy 23:1 reads, "A man whose testicles are crushed or whose penis is cut off may never join the assembly of the Lord."
7. Another way to be banned from church could be all because of a mistake your parents made. Which mistake would that be?

Answer: Fornication

If you are illegitimate, you are not allowed to go to church according to the Bible. Also, your children and your children's children won't be able to go to church either. In Deuteronomy 23:2 it reads, "No one of illegitimate birth shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of his descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall enter the assembly of the Lord."
8. When you go to church, you are supposed to dress nicely, but, according to the Bible, you shouldn't wear this type of metal. What is it?

Answer: Gold

By wearing gold, you would be dressing vainly and transgressing Biblical Law. 1 Timothy 2:9 reads, "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments." Obviously you should not wear pearls either...
9. The Old Testament bans eating certain things. Based on its name, which of these restaurants should you NOT eat at, according to the Old Testament?

Answer: Red Lobster

Aside from pigs, the Bible bans various other animals from being eaten, including shellfish. Leviticus 11:10 reads, "But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you." Camel, rock badger, and rabbit are just a few of the other animals you should not eat. Lobster is not allowed; restaurants that specialize in hamburgers, chicken and pasta are likely to have something acceptable on the menu.
10. According to the Old Testament, if two men are fighting, and the wife of one of them grabs her husband's opponent by the genitals, you should run up and help her fend off the attacker.

Answer: False

In fact, you should do the exact opposite. Deuteronomy 25:11-12 reads, "If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity." In other words, she should just let them fight it out.
