Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. David and Saul both had wives named Ahinoam.

Answer: True

True. However, not much is known about them as they are mentioned in passing reference. 1 Samuel 14:50 reports Ahinoam was the wife of Saul. The same verse states she was the daughter of Ahimaaz. Meanwhile, 1 Samuel 25:43 states David had a wife with the same name. The same verse reports she was from Jezreel and according to 2 Samuel 3:2, she was the mother of Amon.

Christiananswers.net reports Ahinoam means pleasant.
2. Job had a daughter named Jemima.

Answer: True

True. According to Job 42:14, she was the oldest of his daughters born after Job's excruciating trial. Verse 13 in the same chapter reports Job had seven sons and three daughters. With seven brothers and two sisters who apparently became parents, she would have been the world's first Aunt Jemima.
3. Leah had a servant named Bilhah and Rachel had a servant named Zilpah.

Answer: False

Actually, it was the other way around. Leah's servant was Zilpah and Rachel's servant was Bilhah. Rachel and Leah were both sisters and were both married to Jacob. They would eventually give their servants to Jacob to sleep with to produce children, as per the 30th chapter of Genesis.

Bilhah was the mother of Dan and Naphtali, as per Genesis 35:25. The following verse reports Zilpah was the mother of Gad and Asher. Little is known about the two servants as they are mentioned in passing reference.
4. Dinah was the sister of Jacob and Esau and after she was defiled by Shechem a bloody massacre took place.

Answer: False

Dinah was defiled by Shechem and a bloody massacre followed, as told in Genesis 34. However, she was not the sister of Jacob and Esau. Rather, she was the sister of Simeon and Levi who went on a frenzied killing spree after learning of Shechem's act.

Jacob was the father of Dinah and Leah was her mother. Esau was the girl's uncle.
5. Joseph had an Egyptian wife named Alexandria.

Answer: False

Joseph had an Egyptian wife but her name was Asenath, not Alexandria. According to Christiananswers.net, Asenath means "gift of the sun-god". She was a daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, as per Genesis 46:20. The same verse also reports she was the mother of Manasseh and Ephraim.

Not much is known about Asenath as she is mentioned in passing reference. However, with Joseph being the second most powerful man in Egypt, after the Pharaoh, Asenath would have been highly influential.
6. Orpah was the sister-in-law of Ruth and the daughter-in-law of Naomi.

Answer: True

True. Orpah was from Moab and was married to Naomi's son, Chilion (Ruth 1:4 and 4:10). According to the Web site Christiananswers. net, Orpah means forelock or fawn. The husbands of Orpah, Ruth and Naomi all died according to Scripture with Orpah opting to return to Moab. Ruth, however, opted to stay with Naomi.
7. According to 2 Chronicles 22:11 in the NKJV and the NIV, Jehosheba was the daughter of Jehoram, king of Israel, and she was married to Jehoiada, a high priest.

Answer: True

True. However, not much is known about her as she is mentioned in passing reference. According to the Web site Christiananswers.net, Jehosheba (in the KJV she is called Jehoshabeath) was the only princess of the royal house who was married to a high priest. The same Web site reports Jehosheba means Jehovah-swearing.
8. Adah and Zillah are the first Biblical women after Eve to be named. They also have the distinction of being part of the first polygamous marriage, with both of them being wives of Lamech.

Answer: True

Adah and Zillah were both married to Lamech, according to Scripture. Genesis 4:19-22 in the NIV Bible states: "Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah. Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock. His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes. Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah."

Genesis 4:23-25 goes on to report about Lamech becoming the second murderer after Cain.
9. Zipporah was the Ethiopian-born wife of Moses as per Exodus 2:21, and was a good friend of Moses' sister Miriam, as per Numbers 12:1.

Answer: False

False. Zipporah was indeed the Ethiopian-born wife of Moses, as per Numbers 12:1 in the KJV and NKJV Bible. (In the NIV Bible, she is described as a Cushite.) However, it appears Miriam and Zipporah didn't hit things off that well. In fact, just before Miriam was struck with leprosy, Scripture reports she was grumbling about Moses' wife. Aaron, the brother of Moses was grumbling as well, but didn't get afflicted with leprosy. According to Scripture, Miriam ended up being cleansed of leprosy and was reinstated into the Israelite camp.

Numbers 12:5 tells of Miriam and Aaron stepping forward and the LORD coming down in a pillar of cloud. When the pillar of the cloud had disappeared, Aaron noticed his sister Miriam was leprous and "as white as snow". After Moses pleaded to God to cure Miriam of her leprosy, she was healed and reinstated into the Israelite camp after a seven-day absence.
10. Deborah is the name of a dynamic female judge of Israel. However, there is another woman in the Hebrew Bible, or the Old Testament of the English Bible, who was called Deborah. According to Genesis 35:8, she was the nurse of Rebekah.

Answer: True

Correct. Rebekah had a nurse who was named Deborah. According to Genesis 35:8, she was buried under an oak tree after she died. The same verse states the tree was called Allon Bakuth. Notes in the NIV Study Bible, state Allon Bakuth means 'oak of weeping'. Little is known about Rebekah's nurse as she is mentioned in passing reference.
