1. Which of these Hall of Fame greats never appeared in a World Series?

Answer: Andre Dawson

Dawson was the second player in history to hit more than 400 home runs and steal 300 bases. Willie Mays was the first. Andre played in 21 seasons with the Expos, Cubs, Red Sox, and Marlins, and could never find a World Series team. He retired in 1996, then was inducted into the hall in 2010. Aaron went to two World Series in 1957 and 1958, McCovey one in 1962, and Williams saw one in 1946.

2. In June 2007, and without much fanfare, Sammy Sosa hit his 600th home run off which pitcher?

Answer: Jason Marquis

Sosa retired in 2005, then came back with the Rangers for the 2007 season. Ironically, Sammy hit number 600 off the Chicago Cubs, a team that he played for 13 seasons with. The home run came On June 20, 2007, in an interleague game at the Ballpark in Arlington. Sosa became the fifth player in history to hit 600.

3. Who were the first brothers in Major League history to both win 20 games in a season?

Answer: Harry and Stan Coveleski

Harry was a 20-game winner three times. He won 22, 22, and 21 for his Tigers from 1914-1916. In 1915, he led the league by hitting 20 batters. Stan was a five-time 20-game winner. He won 20+ four times with the Indians from 1918-1921, then again in 1925 with the Senators. Stan was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1969, while Harry was never on a ballot. All the brothers listed won 20 games in a season except for Paul Dean. He was a 19-game winner twice.

Answer: Jim Bibby

TheY all threw a no-no for the Rangers, with Ryan throwing two. Bibby threw the first in July 1973 against the Oakland Athletics, even with the Athletics winning their second consecutive of three World Series.

Answer: Won the batting title

Hecker played from 1882-1890. His 52 wins in 1884 also saw him throw a Triple Crown, the third pitching Triple Crown ever thrown. He was somewhat over-shadowed by Charlie Radbourn of the Providence Grays who won 59 games in the season. Along with Guy's 26-23 record in 1886, he batted .341 to win the batting crown over teammate Pete Browning. Guy retired with 175 career wins. His final season with Pittsburgh saw him as a player-manager, and they finished the season with a 23-113 last place finish.

Answer: Mel Ott

Ott was a 22-season career New York Giant from 1926-1947. Mel became the third player to hit 500 home runs, the second being the right-hander Jimmie Foxx. Ott hit 511 in his career and was inducted into the hall in 1951. He died seven years later at the age of 49. Williams was a left-hander and hit 521, retiring in 1960. Gehrig was a left-hander but didn't hit 500 home runs.

Answer: Philadelphia Libertys

The only professional team named the Philadelphia Libertys was a North American professional soccer team based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. They were founded in 2006. The Resolutes showed up in the National Association in 1873. It was their only season after finishing eighth of nine teams. The team was based out of Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Solons played in the American Association for three seasons from 1889-1891, and were based in Ohio. The Rebels were in the Federal League in 1914 and 1915.

8. Which of these Hall of Famers never wore the number 14 in their career?

Answer: Luis Aparicio

Aparicio played with three teams from 1956-1973. He wore the number 11 during his entire career. Bunning was a pitcher, mostly with the Tigers and Phillies. Jim wore the number 14 with the Tigers, Phillies, and Pirates. Henderson wore the familiar number 24, but also wore the number 14 with the Blue Jays in 1993. Mays wore the number 14 in his rookie season with the Giants in 1951.
9. Who was the first pitcher in modern day baseball to lose three World Series games in one series during the 1980s?

Answer: George Frazier

Frazier and his Yankees went up against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1981 series. He lost games three, four, and six, allowing a total of nine hits and seven runs in only 3.2 innings from the bullpen. The Dodgers won the series four games to two.
