Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
During those 126 seasons from 1890-91 to 2022-23, Rangers (55 titles, including one shared) and Celtic (53 titles) have dominated Scottish football but, occasionally, other clubs have managed to break the duopoly. The last team to break the duopoly was Aberdeen, who won the title in season 1984-85.
Aberdeen, Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) and Hibernian have all won four titles.
Dumbarton shared the very first title with Rangers then won it outright the following season.
Dundee, Dundee United, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Third Lanark had all been champions on a singe occasion. (Third Lanark sadly went bust in 1967 so won't be winning the title again).
For those of us keeping count, that adds to 127 titles in 126 seasons; as one season was shared.
Of the decoys, Airdrieonians, Falikrk and Morton have all finished as runners-up, whilst Partick Thistle and St Johnstone have a best-placed finish of third.
