Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What down and distance was made infamous amongst Packers fans on January 11th, 2004?

Answer: 4th and 26

In the divisional round of the 2003-04 playoffs, the 4th-seeded Packers led the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles 17-14 with only 1:12 left to go. After an incompletion, a 5 yard penalty, a sack and another incompletion, the Eagles seemed to be finished, facing an impossible down and distance. But, on the now-famous "4th and 26" play, a slant route to wide receiver Freddie Mitchell got them just enough yardage for the first down, and they were able to tie the game and take it into overtime.

The went on to win the game 20-17 after another field goal from kicker David Akers.
2. In 2011, Aaron Rodgers broke the record for highest single-season passer rating. What rating did he finish with that year?

Answer: 122.5

He edged out the previous mark of 121.1 set by Peyton Manning in 2004, by throwing 45 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. The Packers went 15-1 that year, losing in the divisional round of the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
3. The Packers won the Super Bowl in 1996, defeating the New England Patriots 35-21. Who was named Super Bowl MVP?

Answer: Howard

Despite winning league MVP in 1996, Brett Favre did not receive the same honors in the Super Bowl. Desmond Howard's crucial special teams performance won him the award, as his 99 yard kickoff return touchdown sealed their victory, 35-21.
4. Who did Brett Favre connect with on his first pass in Green Bay?

Answer: Himself

Playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in Tampa, Favre's first pass was deflected by a defensive end. He caught it and was tackled behind the line of scrimmage for a completion of -7 yeards. Favre came on at half time when the starting QB, Don Majkowski, was benched. Tampa were leading 17-0, and went on to win the game 31-3.
5. Aaron Rodgers' first year as starter was not his best. What was his record?

Answer: 6-10

Aaron Charles Rodgers took over the starting position in 2008. Losing 10 of 16 games, he did not make a great first impression. Although his statistics were solid (28 touchdowns, 4038 yards and only 13 interceptions), the Packers lost 7 games by 4 points or less. He turned it around in 2009, posting a record of 11-5.
6. Who was the first Green Bay Packer to be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Answer: Don Hutson

Like Wilt Chamberlain was to scoring in the NBA, Don Hutson was to receiving in the NFL. From 1935-1945, Hutson caught 99 touchdowns in only 488 receptions. He averaged a touchdown every 5 catches! It took 44 years for his career mark to be eclipsed by Steve Largent.
He was elected to the Hall of Fame in the Class of 1963.
7. Antonio Freeman made one of the greatest catches in league history on a Monday Night game in 2000. Who were the Packers playing?

Answer: Minnesota Vikings

On November 6, 2000, Antonio Freeman made a catch that even commentator Al Michaels couldn't believe ("He did what!?"). While laying on the ground, Freeman had the ball deflected to his body by Vikings cornerback Cris Dishman. After bouncing off his shoulderpads and (seemingly) out of his reach, the ball hung in the air for a fraction of a second. With just enough wherewithal and just enough time, the Packers receiver caught the ball with the tips of his fingers and ran it in for a touchdown. The unlikely score ended the game 26-20, as the teams were in a sudden-death overtime period.
8. In what round was Donald Driver drafted?

Answer: 7th

Drafted 213th overall, Donald Driver spent 14 years with the Packers (1999-2012). He retired with a franchise record 10,137 receiving yards. He won a championship in 2010, although sidelined mid-game with a leg injury.
9. Who did Reggie White play for in the 2000 season, after he left Green Bay?

Answer: Carolina Panthers

After eight years with the Eagles and six with the Packers, "The Minister of Defense" spent his last year with the Panthers, only getting to the quarterback 5.5 times through`16 games.
10. What year did the Packers join the NFL?

Answer: 1921

The NFL was founded in 1920, but the Packers did not join until 1921. The team existed independently since 1919, founded by Earl "Curly" Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun. They were given $500 for uniforms and equipment by Lambeau's employer, The Indian Packing Company, on the condition that the team would bear its name.
