This Swiss born defender started early on as captain of the under-17 European champions. He had been a regular in the young international side at under-21 level until he was promoted to the full squad.

Oddo made his national debut in 2002, as part of a reformed squad after the unsuccessful 2002 FIFA World Cup performance of the Azzurri. Oddo was a member of the Italian squad who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup championship.

Boruc was selected to the 23-man national squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals held in Germany.
