Answer:

The Boston Bruins were the first U.S. team in the NHL, entering in 1924. The Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and the New York Rangers all joined the NHL in 1926.

The Los Angeles Kings and the Minnesota North Stars were part of the 1967 expansion. The North Stars moved to Dallas, Texas in 1993 and became the Stars in 1993.

The Washington Capitals and the Kansas City Scouts joined in 1974. The Scouts moved to Colorado in 1976 as the Rockies and the, in 1982, they relocated to New Jersey as the Devils.

The Cleveland Barons were originally the Oakland Seals, a 1967 expansion team that relocated to Cleveland in 1976. The team merged with the Minnesota North Stars in 1978.

The Hartford Whalers were a WHA team that entered the NHL in 1979. They moved to North Carolina and became the Hurricanes in 1997. The Colorado Avalanche began in the WHA as the Quebec Nordiques and also joined the NHL in 1979. In 1996, they relocated to Colorado.

The Seattle Kraken is an expansion team that began play in the 2021 season.
The incorrect answers are all teams from the WHA that did not join the NHL.
