Answer: David Fury

When the opening credits rolled, you could see that David Fury was credited with writing this episode of "Lost." For the first five seasons of the show, Fury wrote a total of four episodes. Fury also wrote episodes for the TV series', "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel", and "24."
2. In a flashback, Walt's mother Susan accepted a job in what European city?

Answer: Amsterdam

We got to learn more about Michael and Walt's history, through flashbacks in this episode, and we also met Walt's mother, Susan Lloyd, in the flashbacks. During one flashback, Susan mentioned, to Michael, that she got a job offer in Amsterdam and she was going to move there and planned to take Walt with her.

She also married a co-worker of hers named Brian and they worked together in Australia. Michael objected to Susan taking Walt to Amsterdam.
3. Which actress played Susan in this episode?

Answer: Tamara Taylor

Taylor, born on September 27th, 1970 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada portrayed Susan Lloyd, Walt's mother, in this episode of "Lost." For the first five seasons of the show, Taylor appeared in a total of two episodes. Taylor has also guest starred on the TV series', "Numb3rs", "CSI: Miami", and "Six Feet Under." In 2006, she began starring on the FOX hit "Bones".

Answer: Michael Dawson

In a flashback, Michael called up his ex-girlfriend, Susan, and he asked her if he could speak to Walt and she refused to let him talk to his son. Michael hung up the phone and walked out into the street and he was hit by a car. Michael went to the hospital and, while he stayed there, he drew a picture of a man who was in a wheelchair. Susan visited Michael while he was in the hospital.
5. What excuse did Brian give for NOT wanting custody of Walt?

Answer: Walt was different

In a flashback, we learned that Susan, Walt's mother, had died of a blood disorder while Walt was still a young child. Brian, Susan's husband, told Michael it was Susan's wish that Michael be given custody. This was when Brian mentioned that he did not want custody of Walt because he found that Walt was "different." Michael wound up with custody of Walt.
6. Michael was upset since Locke was teaching Walt how to use what weapon?

Answer: Knife

When we got to scenes of the island, Michael noticed that John Locke was teaching Walt how to throw a knife and Michael stepped in to speak to Locke He informed Locke that he did not want him teaching Walt how to use dangerous instruments. Michael spoke to Walt and asked him to help him with a scavenger hunt in hopes he could build a raft.
7. Michael saved Walt from a what?

Answer: Polar bear

Walt told his father that he was going to run off with his dog, Vincent, and leave Michael behind so Michael accused Locke of contributing to Walt being out of control. Michael worried when he saw that Walt was not with Locke so he and Locke went off looking for Walt. Michael found Walt about to be attacked by a polar bear but he saved him from the polar bear and this helped them start to bond some more.

Right after Michael saved Walt from the polar bear, he gave Walt a box and in the box were a bunch of letters. Michael explained that he had written to Walt, over the years, but that Walt's mother, Susan, had kept the letters hidden from Walt. Walt had believed that Michael refused to be in contact with him, for many years, but this showed that Michael tried to get in touch with Walt.
9. Charlie got Claire's diary from whom?

Answer: James "Sawyer" Ford

While on the island, Charlie wanted to get closer to Claire and he felt the way to do it was to get her diary. He noticed that Sawyer had the diary so he managed to get the diary from Sawyer and he skimmed through it. While he skimmed through Claire's diary, he noticed that she spoke of an important location, on the island, that Sayid had discovered.
10. Locke and who else saw Claire stumbling out of the jungle?

Answer: Boone Carlyle

Charlie decided to show Claire's diary, to the other survivors of the Oceanic Flight 815 crash, and asked them if this could be used to track down Claire's location. The other survivors did not believe that Claire's diary could be used to find her but it was Locke and Boone who found Claire since they were looking for Walt's dog, Vincent, and noticed that Claire stumbled out of the jungle.
