Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Ted Crilly, Dougal McGuire, and Jack Hackett are three Catholic priests who live together on Craggy Island, a fictional island off the coast of the Republic of Ireland. Ted is the central character of the show and has dreams of being a big-shot priest and going to America but is instead stuck on Craggy Island with the hapless Dougal and the alcoholic, lecherous Jack.
Dick Byrne and Cyril MacDuff are priests on nearby Rugged Island. Despite being very similar to Ted, Dick thinks he is superior to him and a number of episodes revolve around a rivalry between the two. Cyril is the equivalent to Dougal on Rugged Island with his dim-wittedness often irritating Dick.
Father Larry Duff is a friend of Ted's who makes a brief appearance in a number of episodes, this character is the subject of a running gag in which Ted phones him for advice at inopportune times.
Noel Furlong is an annoying, hyperactive priest played by the Irish comedian Graham Norton. He often appears accompanying the St Luke's Youth Group.
Paul Stone appears in the episode 'Entertaining Father Stone'. He is an exceedingly boring priest who never takes any interest in anything. In the episode he comes to stay with Ted, Dougal, and Jack on Craggy Island.
In the episode 'New Jack City' Jack is diagnosed with "hairy hands syndrome" and sent to a home for elderly priests called St Clabbert's. His replacement on Craggy Island is the rude and obnoxious Father Fintan Stack who, amongst many other annoying habits, takes to playing loud jungle music throughout the night.
Father Damien 'Damo' Lennon is a younger priest who is friendly with Dougal, he is portrayed as acting like a surly, rebellious teenager. The character appears in the episode 'The Old Grey Whistle Theft'.
The wrong answers are all characters in 'Father Ted,' but are not priests. John O'Leary runs the local shop with his wife Mary while Pat Mustard is the inappropriate milkman from the episode 'Speed 3'. Tony Lynch is one of the members of St Luke's Youth Group and Henry Sellers is the game show host who comes to host the "All-Priests Stars in Their Eyes Lookalikes Competition" in the episode 'Competition Time'. Michael Cocheese is the cinema manager in the episode 'The Passion of Saint Tibulus'.
