Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does the flax do?

Answer: Captures ships

The flax acts as a net, holding ships caught in it suspended in place. Aeryn and John, when caught in it, notice their pod has no drift or spin, and their comms don't work. They can't even see the stars or get any power to their pod.
2. Staanz is a self-styled what?

Answer: Garbologist

Staanz, arriving on Moya, warns them of the flax and then sees Rygel, saying, "My name's Staanz. I'm a garbologist. I'm a...connoisseur of what other people throw away." Staanz goes to loot ships in the flax, no matter how old or useless those items may be.
3. What type of Luxan ship is in the flax?

Answer: Luxan Assault Piercer

D'Argo dreamed of serving on an Assault Piercer as a boy, and now hopes the one caught in the flax will have information on how he can get home. The Luxan Eradicator-class warship was found in season three's "Suns and Lovers," and D'Argo took it for his own, naming it after his late wife.

The Luxan Penetrator was seen in action in "The Peacekeeper Wars" mini-series. The Marauder is a Peacekeeper ship, featured in "Exodus from Genesis."
4. What southern metaphor did John use in this episode?

Answer: Slicker'n snot

Aeryn thinks her translator microbes mistranslated John when he says, "Slicker'n snot," while flying the transport pod. "Like white on rice" means two things that just go together. "Shut my mouth" is an expression of shock or maybe disbelief at something. "Butter my biscuit" means that is something you don't see everyday.
5. What movie did John reference?

Answer: Top Gun

John, as he's learning to fly the transport pod, excitedly says, "This is Top Gun. This is the need for speed." Aeryn replies, "I have no need for speed."
6. What is unusual about Staanz?

Answer: He has no male genitals

Staanz turns out not to have male genitals for a good reason, as later he reveals that "he" is the female of his, or rather her, species. In fact, Staanz says, "I'm considered quite the Zenetan beauty."
7. Who gives the crew from Moya trouble in this episode?

Answer: Zenetan pirates

The Zenetan priates are tattooed scavengers of ships who use the flax to capture their victims. Maldis is the sorcerer from "That Old Black Magic," the grey-skinned Nebari appear in "Durka Returns," and the Draks are the bug-like creatures that infest Moya in "Exodus from Genesis."
8. Staanz says the Onnyxi Play Partner dolls do certain things. Which of these is not one of those things

Answer: They talk

Staanz, showing off his loot he found thrown away, shows D'Argo old broken dolls. He tells D'Argo, "I've got 9 million Onnyxi Play Partners.
They particalize, they levitate, everything! One day I'm gonna sell these babies and make a killing." Staanz then throws some in a furnace that fuels his ship and tells D'Argo, "They burn good, too." The dolls probably talk, as that would fall under "everything," but he didn't specifically say that they did.
9. Rygel wins his game of tardek with Kcrackic.

Answer: False

Rygel lets Kcrackic win when he puts the whereabouts of Staanz up for stakes. Of course, Rygel put in false coordinates to where Staanz was, as he had planned to let the pirate win all along and send him "far from here."
10. Who says, "It doesn't get better than this, baby!"

Answer: Staanz

It sounds like something John would say, but after breaking his ship free of the flax, Staanz yells excitedly to D'Argo, "It doesn't get better than this, baby."
