"Starsky and Hutch" was an American TV television series. The series was first shown in 1975. The main characters of the show were David Soul "Hutch" and Paul Michael Glaser "Starsky." Antonio Fargas played the part of "Huggy Bear." In the UK, "Starsky and Hutch" became a big hit. The series started a trend of us males wearing those fantastic Cardigans, with the belt! The American TV series "Hart to Hart" was first aired in 1975. The programme starred Robert Wagner (Jonathan) and Stefanie Powers (Jennifer) in the programme the pair played the part of a married couple who dabbled in the world of amateur detectives. The series was filmed in both the UK and Amsterdam. The storyline centers in or around Amsterdam, with cases of rape, murder and less serious crimes. The programme produced five series 1972, 1973, 1977, 1991 and 1992. Can you remember the theme tune from "Van der Valk"? It made the number one slot on the UK singles chart in 1973. Yes you were right; it was "Eye Level" by The Simon Park Orchestra.

This American Crime/Drama series hit the screens in 1967. The programme stared Raymond Burr as Robert Ironside, Don Mitchell as Mark Sanger and Don Galloway as Det. Sgt. Ed Brown. Originally Robert T. Ironside was the Chief of Detectives at San Francisco Police Department. Robert received a gunshot, and was paralyzed from the waist down. Now wheelchair bound, he was offered the position of special department consultant.

The series ended in 1975. Several, now well known actors/actresses have appeared in the programme, including Harrison Ford, David Carradine, William Shatner, Ingrid Pitt and Susan Saint James.

"No Hiding Place" was a British television series, first shown in 1959. The black and white series stared Raymond Francis as Detective Chief Superintendent Tom Lockhart. Other characters from the show were Detective Sergeant Harry Baxter (Eric Lander), Det. Sgt. Perryman (Michael McStay), Det. Sgt. Gregg (Sean Caffrey) and Det. Sgt. Russell (Johnny Briggs).

The series ended in 1967, after 236 episodes. The programme was in general about police against criminals. Johnny Briggs, later in his career (1976) went on to play Mike Baldwin, in the UK soap "Coronation Street".

"Cagney And Lacey" was an American television series, which was first shown in 1982. The series stared Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless as two women detectives. The first episode was released on March 25, 1982, and was tiled, "Bang, Bang, You're Dead (a.k.a. You Call These Plain Clothes?)".

The series covered all types of crimes including, murder, robbery and date-rape. The series produced 125 episodes. Sadly the programme ended in 1988.

"Columbo" was an American TV series. The series was first shown in 1968, as a pilot episode and stared Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo. The first episode, shown in season one was called, "Murder by the Book" (9/15/71) the detective, who looks more of a criminal than a detective is a homicide specialist. The Lieutenant has a scruffy appearance, wearing a dirty overcoat and in general looks untidy. His character has us believing that he is a bit thick or not too bright in the brain department. However we soon learn that the detective is not what he seems! The programme produced seven seasons and ran until 1978. "Columbo" also had a run of TV movies and a TV special. One of the best crime dramas on TV, and a world wide hit.
