"Star Blazers" is a remake of the Japanese anime series "Space Battleship Yamato" that first aired in 1979. It lasted for three seasons and was the first popular English translation of an anime series that had a plotline that required viewers to watch it in order and this paved the way for future plot driven translations. The series begins with Earth being under attack by hostile aliens and tells the story of the race to save Earth.

In 2013 television critic Matt Zoller Seitz named this series as number four on his list of eight of the best television series or mini-series that people have likely not seen.

Dr. Temperance Brennan appeared in the television series "Bones" from September 2005 to March 2017 (books written by Kathy Reichs). "Bones" had a much longer run, but "Rizzoli and Isles" enjoyed six seasons during this time, while Dr. Kay Scarpetta was left out of the mix.
