Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the alternate time-line, Hugo is magnificently successful and sublimely generous. What sort of award is Hugo being seen receiving at an awards celebration?

Answer: "Man of the Year"

In this particular time-line Dr. Pierre Chang lends his intellectual expertise to a softer side of science in paleontology as opposed to theoretical astrophysics. Nevertheless, he awards Hugo the "Man of the Year" award for Hugo's generous grant allowing the museum to open a new wing.
2. As Hugo mourns over the loss of his beloved Libby, mysterious whispers manifest in the background. Hugo is presented with the visage of a familiar deceased person. Who is this?

Answer: Michael

Amidst the creepy whispering voices, the visage of Michael appears. Hugo acknowledges Michael, but is a bit aloof. Michael declares, "I'm here to stop you from getting everyone killed." Hugo is still angry with Michael, but takes Michael's words to heart.
3. Hugo is sitting in a restaurant purportedly awaiting the blind date his mother has set up for him. Someone arrives to greet Hugo. Who is it?

Answer: Libby

Hugo, perhaps not entirely enthused about the prospect of meeting a blind date is somewhat discomfited by the arrival of the radiant Libby. Abashed, Hugo promptly invites Libby to sit down. Enigmatically, Libby retains the memory of their previous experience. However, before Hugo can pursue a conversation, Libby is whisked away by her psychiatrist, much to Hugo's dismay.
4. Ilana has gathered a sufficient amount of explosives to disable the Ajira aircraft. As Ilana delineates the plan to those listening, she carelessly drops the bag of explosives on the ground. What happens?

Answer: Ilana is apparently killed by the explosion of unstable dynamite.

Quite contrary to Ilana's typical calm demeanor, she acts sporadically and carelessly drops the bag of unstable explosives on the ground. The resultant explosion would leave us to believe that Ilana has met her demise. Naturally, everyone is shocked, but they carry on.
5. Hugo is assuaging his feelings of dejection by rampaging through a bucket of his very own chicken. A stranger visits the hapless Hugo and requests a seat beside Hugo. Who is this stranger?

Answer: Desmond

Desmond takes a seat beside Hugo and asks Hugo about his trip from Sydney. Hugo is defensive and still somewhat abrasive. However, Hugo relaxes upon Desmond's questions about Libby. Hugo explains his predicament and Desmond offers an elegant solution. Hugo takes this under advisement.

As an aside, it so happens that Desmond's order is number 42, which happens to be one of the mysterious numbers.
6. Hugo visits the mental hospital in which his friend is currently residing. The director is reluctant to allow Hugo to make a personal visit. How does Hugo persuade the director?

Answer: Hugo donates a large sum of money to renovate the recreation wing.

Hugo has a candid discussion with the director. Initially, the director (Bruce Davison) is reluctant to grant Hugo admission to the unit. Hugo, in essence, bribes the director by offering a sum of $100,000 to the hospital for the recreation wing. The director accepts this offer and Hugo is allowed to meet with his friend.
7. In an attempt to persuade Richard to take a different course of action, Hugo claims to be talking directly to Jacob. Is this true?

Answer: No

It is not true. Hugo claims to be talking to Jacob in an effort to persuade the rest of the party to listen to him. Richard is summarily unconvinced and demands a test of Hugo. Hugo, being put on the spot, resists by saying, "I don't have to prove anything to you, Richard." He continues to say that Richard can accompany him or continue to blow stuff up. Even so, Hugo later confesses to Jack that he did not have a conversation with Jacob.
8. In this episode, we learn the derivation of the enigmatic whispers. What do these whispering voices portend?

Answer: They are the voices of spirits unable to move on.

Hugo meets Michael in the jungle and he suggests that, "You're stuck on the island, aren't you?" Michael admits that it is because of his past misguided deeds. Hugo further guesses that there are others out there. Michael acknowledges Hugo and says, "Yeah, we're the ones who can't move on."
9. The MiB (John Locke) takes Desmond on an exploratory journey to an ancient well. What takes place at the well?

Answer: The MiB hurls Desmond into the bottom of the well.

The MiB takes Desmond to the site of an ancient well. This place has a great deal of significance with regard to the history of the island. The MiB regards Desmond with a certain amount of respect. He really wants to know why Desmond displays no fear. Desmond replies, "What's the point in bein' afraid?" The MiB offers a congratulatory smile, perhaps, and then throws Desmond into the abyss of the well.
10. Desmond is observing the activities in a school zone. Ben, naturally suspicious of this kind of surveillance, knocks on Desmond's car window. Desmond simply responds that he is interested in a proper school for his son. Ben inquires, "What's your son's name?" What does Desmond say?

Answer: "Charlie"

Ben is rightfully suspicious of someone sitting in a car observing the property. However, Desmond has a ready answer which seems to satisfy Ben for the time being. Obviously, Desmond's true purpose is to make an attempt to remove John Locke from the picture of future events.
