Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John Locke has arrived home from his uneventful trip to Sydney. As he descends from his van in a wheelchair, the switch on the wheelchair malfunctions. This causes John to fall onto his lawn from the wheelchair. What happens next?

Answer: The lawn sprinkler system is activated.

As if it were not enough to have ignominiously fallen onto the ground from his wheelchair, the sprinkler system is activated, thus soaking John. Even so, John can only smile at the absurdity of the situation.
2. The smoke monster winds through the jungle, pausing briefly at the barracks, then continues its journey until it spies a certain object. What is this object?

Answer: a machete

The smoke monster, replete with its characteristic monster sound effects, deftly navigates its way through the jungle. Upon reaching a machete lying on the ground, the monster transforms back into John Locke. He proceeds to cut Richard down from a bag suspended in a tree.
3. John Locke wheels into his office cubicle seemingly lost in thought. His somewhat ingratiating boss Randy, interrogates John about the conference knowing full well that John did not attend. What is the result of this conversation?

Answer: Randy fires John.

According to Randy, the company had paid for the trip to Sydney, so that John could attend a conference. John admits to not having attended the conference, but is hesitant to reveal his reasons for doing so. Randy then summarily fires John.
4. The John impersonate having released Richard from captivity, apologizes for striking Richard and having treating him harshly. Richard, still bedraggled after the experience, inquires, "What do you want?" What is the reply?

Answer: "For you to come with me."

Jacob's nemesis implores Richard to accompany him. He tells Richard, "Come with me and I'll tell you everything." However, Richard adamantly refuses. Richard resolutely states that he is not going anywhere with him.
5. Ben approaches Ilana in the temple. Ilana is grieving over the loss of her comrades. Ben wants to know why the John impersonate carried Richard into the jungle. What does Ilana say?

Answer: "He's recruiting."

Ben describes how the John impersonate transformed into the smoke monster and killed all of Ilana's friends. Ben lies about the death of Jacob, but does reveal that his body was burned in the pit. Ilana retrieves some ashes from the pit. Finally, Ben wonders, "Locke... Do you know why he carried Richard into the jungle?" Ilana pauses a moment in apparent contemplation, then replies, "He's recruiting."
6. Jacob's nemesis, in the guise of John Locke, steadfastly makes his way to the dilapidated buildings of the old barracks. To whom does the John impostor pay a visit?

Answer: Sawyer

Sawyer is living in the quarters with which he shared a home with Juliet. Sawyer is drowning his sorrows with copious quantities of whiskey. The John impostor enters Sawyer's house of squalor but Sawyer in his whiskey-soaked state is unfazed.
7. Perhaps as a matter of pride, John has parked his van in the regular parking lot, instead of a designated handicapped parking space. Unfortunately, someone has parked their vehicle so that John cannot gain entry to his van. Who owns the vehicle?

Answer: Hurley

Understandably frustrated, John pounds on the offending vehicle setting off the car alarm. Hurley, impeccably dressed arrives and says, "Dude! Dude! What are you doin'?" John chastises Hurley for parking irresponsibly. Hurley modestly announces that he owns the company and introduces himself as, "Hugo Reyes." Further, Hurley generously provides assistance for John by giving him an opening at an employment agency, which Hurley also happens to own.
8. Sawyer and Jacob's nemesis journey until they reach a high precipice. The nemesis tells Sawyer that they must climb down. What do they find at the bottom of the precipice?

Answer: a cave

Sawyer nearly falls off the precarious rope ladder on the way down. He is rescued by Jacob's nemesis. They enter the cave which is adorned with relics and a scale balanced with two stones. Jacob's nemesis picks up a white stone from the scale and symbolically flings it into the ocean.
9. At the employment agency, John is angry with the insipid questions posed by the initial interviewer. John wants to speak to the supervisor. After a candid discussion, a seemingly appropriate job is found for John. What is his position?

Answer: a substitute teacher

John can be seen in a school setting teaching a variety of subjects. He takes a break and heads for the teacher's lounge. Among the other characters that John meets in this particular timeline, John encounters Ben, a teacher of European History. In any case, John seems to be immensely pleased with this position.
10. Jacob's nemesis describes three basic choices that Sawyer may select from. What does Sawyer elect to do?

Answer: Sawyer agrees to leave the island with Jacob's nemesis.

Jacob's nemesis shows Sawyer each of the names written upon the wall. Each name is prefixed by one of the mystery numbers. Sawyer's number is 15. Jacob's nemesis goes on to depict each of the transcribed names as "candidates" selected to follow in Jacob's footsteps as leader and protector of the island. Jacob's nemesis insists though, that the island does not need to be protected. Finally, Jacob's nemesis tells Sawyer that the third choice is that they just leave the island. "We never look back." The nemesis asks Sawyer, "So, what do you say James. Are you ready to go home?" Sawyer pauses in reflection. Finally, he says, "Hell, yes."
