Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many contestants competed on this season of "Survivor"?

Answer: Twenty

Arriving amongst the remote islands of Fiji on a massive sailboat, twenty returning castaways were informed that they had already begun "Survivor: Game Changers", a season that wouldn't only push their gameplay to new levels, but force them to contend with new and aggressive twists and turns.

As the anchor fell, Jeff welcomed them all and split them into two tribes: Mana and Nuku. On his go, they were given the chance to collect anything they could from the ship, loading it onto their rafts before heading to their respective campsites, and with that, the game was on.
2. Who ended up using the Legacy Advantage this season?

Answer: Sarah

As with "Millennials vs. Gen X" a season earlier, the castaways' initial scramble for supplies included the finding of a secret advantage, in this case hidden in an envelope under the gear on the starting ship. This time, the envelope was found by Sierra and she found that it would grant her immunity, but only if thirteen or six castaways remained in the game. If she was voted out, she would be able to will the advantage to someone else.

Sierra managed to make it to Day 32, placing ninth while being unable to use the advantage. She willed it to Sarah, who ended up utilizing it to her advantage during the final six Tribal Council.
3. On Day 7, the two tribes were redistributed into three. What colour buff did the new Tavua tribe obtain?

Answer: Green

On Day 7, the eighteen remaining castaways were united on a beach for what should have been a Reward/Immunity Challenge, but turned out to be another game-changing twist as they were told to drop their buffs and take new ones at random. What they found was that not only would some receive Nuku or Mana buffs, but new, green buffs for a tribe to be known as Tavua.

This new tribe would need to head to a new beach and start from scratch. This three-tribe format would persist until Day 14 when Tavua dissolved and the three tribes reformed into two.
4. Day 11 saw a unique Tribal Council occur in which all three tribes participated in a seventeen-person vote.

Answer: False

Though this Tribal Council was unique, it did not feature all three tribes-- Tavua received immunity during the previous challenge. Instead, both Mana and Nuku went to Tribal Council together, making for an eleven-person vote as all castaways present were required to participate, potentially getting rid of a player across tribal lines. What resulted was a volatile Tribal Council in which players crossed tribal lines with whispers and quiet discussions. Tai, who located a Hidden Immunity Idol before the Mana tribe made it to Tribal Council, ended up playing it to save Sierra, negating six votes to her name.

It was Malcolm who Mana targeted, getting him voted out for being too much of a major physical threat.
5. A second tribal switch occurred on Day 14, but one castaway, Debbie, was sent into exile to await a spot with her new tribe. Where was she taken?

Answer: A yacht

The game-changing contestants were hit with another tribal shake-up on Day 14 when Jeff told them to drop their buffs; they would need to condense back down to two tribes, dissolving Tavua altogether and realigning to suit. This resulted in seven people on each tribe with Debbie, who didn't receive a buff, being sent to Exile until next Tribal Council (where she would join the losing tribe after eliminating their first castaway). What Debbie and others didn't know was that 'Exile', this time, was the name of a yacht moored elsewhere in the Mamanuca Islands meaning she would be able to bask and relax in comfort and, to her surprise, receive tactical advice from former "Survivor" winner John Cochran and an advantage of her choice.

She would take an 'Extra Vote' advantage and join Nuku on Day 16.
6. On Day 18, which castaway was eliminated without a formal vote?

Answer: Jeff

Nuku continued a string of critical losses with the Immunity Challenge on Day 18 and headed to Tribal Council with two factions, but the proceedings were much more volatile than could have been anticipated when Jeff, feeling his back against the wall, opted not only to out Zeke, who he was initially aligned with, as transgendered, but infer that his non-disclosure of this personal information was an indication of deceit.

The discussion turned almost immediately with the other tribemates and Jeff Probst calling Varner's ethics and personality into question. Though Varner eventually asserted that he was remorseful for his action, it almost went without saying that he would be eliminated. Jeff had the tribe take an open vote and Varner was unanimously removed from the game without the formality.
7. What was the name of this season's merged tribe, formed on Day 19?

Answer: Maku Maku

The castaways came together on a challenge beach to discover a merge feast awaiting them on Day 19, but the feast came with a twist. Before the thirteen players could eat, one person from each tribe needed to abstain from the meal, otherwise no one would get any of it. Brad stepped up almost immediately from Mana while Tai raised his hand for Nuku, allowing the pair to spend time together. With that, everyone dropped their buffs and received new, yellow-coloured ones.

The name Maku Maku was chosen for all of them.
8. On Day 24, an Extra Vote advantage was used at Tribal Council. On Day 35, which of these advantages was used?

Answer: Vote Steal

On Day 25, this advantage was hidden in plain sight underneath a bench at the Reward Challenge, and though Michaela was forced to sit out the competition, it wasn't found until after the challenge was completed when Sarah spotted it from a distance and pocketed it without being seen. What she found was that it allowed her to steal a vote from any single player at a future Tribal Council, using it for herself.

She would use it on Day 35 during the final seven vote when Cirie, holding onto the advantage, used it in her place.

She ended up taking Tai's ballot that night and using it to stack the vote against Michaela. It worked, sending her to the jury.
9. On Day 36, the uses of Immunity Idols resulted on only one castaway being up for elimination out of the six remaining in the game. Who went home as a result?

Answer: Cirie

In a fascinating "Survivor" first, the Day 36 Tribal Council resulted in a massive technical elimination. Brad, having won the Immunity Challenge, could not be voted for. Sarah, using the Legacy Advantage, negated three votes against her. Tai, using Hidden Idols on himself and Aubry, also negated votes against them. Troyzan, using his Hidden Idol from an earlier challenge, also protected himself from elimination.

This left Cirie as the only player without any form of protection, and because of this, there was no choice but to eliminate her from the game, by default, with no need for a vote.
10. Who was the Sole Survivor and winner of "Survivor: Game Changers"?

Answer: Sarah

On Day 39, the final three of Sarah, Troyzan, and Brad made their way to the one, last Tribal Council and encountered an unexpected twist as Jeff announced the jury would be able to talk to them in an open forum instead of as a simple one-question-per-person Q&A.

After focusing on the key themes of "Survivor"-- to Outwit, Outplay, and Outlast-- the jury made their votes and crowned Sarah the winner with seven votes (versus three for Brad and none for Troyzan) due to her complex social maneuvering and deceptive plays in a game-changing season.
